Review for Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo & Marin Counties, San Francisco, CA, USA
I started working with and for Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin nearly seven years ago. What an amazing journey this has been. I never expected a 95 year old organization, that is best known for its thrift stores and easy donation centers, to be doing such tranformation work for the Bay Area's poor and vulnerable communities. The quality of the job training, support, and education programs are outstanding. Additionally, Goodwill's commitment to growing environmentally sustainable businesses and hiring some people overcoming significan barriers to employment goes well beyond the scope of running quality programs. Goodwill is a vibrant social enterprise that is continuously innovating to better meet the needs of its communities.

The participants, shoppers, donors, employees and volunteers have changed my family's forever. We have become major repurposers -- buying used and refurbished goods and donating our things on a regular basis. People like Jesse, Debra, Hugo -- all former participants-- have taught me the true meaning of resiliency, hope, and intentionality. I believe, with all my soul, that the power of work is truly transformational and that work with dignity must be a basic human right extended to all.

People need to know about the true work behind Goodwill. I would dramatically increase the number of volunteers and spread the word about this great organziation.
