Review for Pacific Heart Lung & Blood Institute, Los Angeles, CA, USA
Being diagnosed with Mesothelioma was like being hit by a bolt of lightning out of the blue. However, I have to count my blessings. First, for Dr. Cameron, head of the thoracic dept. at UCLA, who performed my surgery. Second, for Lein, Dr. Cameron’s nurse practitioner, who is always available to me to answer any questions as the months go by in my recovery. Third, is the PHLBI, the non-profit organization, working closely with Dr. Cameron and Lein to find a cure for this horrible cancer. PHLBI also provides support for patients and caregivers by having monthly conference calls once a month, Lein and Christina facilitate the calls. I have been able to talk to other survivors of Mesothelioma. Being able to talk to other people who have experienced exactly the same thing is invaluable. It’s so easy to feel you are alone in your fight for recovery. PHLBI has filled that hole for me, knowing we’re in this together as a team, Dr. Cameron, Lein, PHLBI, and the patient.
