Review for New Life Boxer Rescue, Kenilworth, NJ, USA
I have been with New Life Boxer Rescue for 10 years in all different capacities. As a volunteer, a supporter, an adopter, an advocate, being apart of this rescue provides so many avenues of opportunity. I have fostered, transported, hosted BRAD's (Boxer Rescue Awareness Days), collected donations, no matter what my personal situation there was always an opportunity for me to help these dogs. NLBR values it's volunteers and because of this no matter how much time you can give, it will always be appreciated and needed. And without the help of volunteers and others who care just as much for these wonderful animals, nothing would get accomplished. Instead every day we made a difference, as much of a difference as we can. We always keep trying for every single dog that we can help. October 2018 I met the cutest, sweetest Boxer girl. I was at a Celebration of Pets event and I was NOT looking to adopt AT ALL. My boy was almost 11 and had just been diagnosed with cancer. I was very involved bringing him for his treatments and taking care of him. I met a dog that another volunteer was fostering and really didn't think much of it. My daughter was with me that day also volunteering and decided that this little girl was to be ours. My girls were in their senior year of high school and preparing to go off to college, I was wrapped up in Corona's cancer treatments and did not want another dog. I didn't! Then we brought her home. Since the moment she came into my house, I can not think of how empty my world would be with out her. Cleo was only with us a week, when I lost my sweet boy. I mourned him, and while I did not want another dog, Cleo was the exact dog I need at the exact moment I needed her. I have only had her a little over a year and I couldn't love this dog more if I had her from an 8 week old pup. She was already 3 when I adopted her and all the myths and concerns and worries that normally come with adopting an older dog were 100% not an issue. She actually is better behaved than any of my boys were! She is a true gem and I thank New Life Boxer Rescue every single day for allowing me to adopt her. This picture was taken just last week on Easter, I like to think she's smiling because she's just as happy to be here as we are to have her.
