Helping Hands University Park was among the first 2 Villages serving seniors in Prince George's County to be accepted into JCA's VillageRides program. That helped us launch our Village, in formation for a long time but unable to serve seniors until then. Thanks to JCA's forward-looking VillageRides program, we have a database tracking all of our seniors and volunteers, we are able to put out our members' requests for rides as well as other services. e.g. help with errands, computers and minor repairs, friendly calls, and yardwork. We have access to help with marketing materials and the expertise of JCA staff. Our quarterly meetings bring different Villages together to share our experiences and knowledge with others. The JCA staff is extremely responsive and easy to work with. I am so grateful for this small part of what the Jewish Council for the Aging does for the entire DC., MD and VA community.
