My wife Carol has been dealing with moderate dementia for several years. In addition, she has also dealt with depression for more than 25 years. They unfortunately play off each other. During a therapy session, her therapist suggested that a group environment with other people whom are likewise disabled would be very helpful. She highly recommended the JCA Kensington Club in Rockville, Maryland and we followed up several months ago with a trial visit. My wife who tends to be shy, really liked that initial visit and she started to attend on a weekly basis. She really has grown by attending these group sessions and feels totally welcome attending each week. She always comments on what a great job the staff does in making everyone feel comfortable. With the present coronavirus issue they are temporarily on break and she really misses those sessions and looks forward to the reopening of the Kensington Club.
