Perhaps the best trip I have ever been on was a recent expedition to Oman and Qatar using GEEO. I joined a small group of teachers for an educational exchange and could not have come away with a better experience. There was a level of planning and attention to detail at GEEO which made the trip truly exceptional. It began with the planning - both nations on the itinerary were unusual choices. Oman is a small nation with one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Over the past 40 years, the nation has been transformed from an isolated backwater into a modern and friendly destination. Perched on the tip of the Arabian Peninsula, it has a varied geography with the second deepest canyon in the world. Its rich historical past ties together the cultural threads of the Middle East and its population is one of the warmest you will meet.
Qatar is the dynamic commercial heart of the Gulf and the city of Doha was dotted with a skyline worthy of the most advanced cities anywhere. Nestled in the urban center were historical markets, breathtaking beaches and some of the finest museums in the Middle East. During the entire time, we were led by competent and caring guides who knew the region like the back of their hand. They put together an itinerary filled with exciting events, from mountain hikes on the region's tallest mountain to desert camping under the stars. While there, we experienced a total Solar eclipse just days away from the New Year, surrounded by nothing other than sand dunes stretching to the horizon. It was the best trip I have ever been on and I cannot thank GEEO enough for their personal touch and masterful planning.
