I've been on 2 GEEO trips as a solo female traveler, and both were fantastic! I went to Central Europe in June 2017 and Peru in July 2018. All of my trip leaders were knowledgeable about the locations I visited. They were available for help/company whenever needed, but they were also fine providing support for travelers who wanted to be more independent. Also, my fellow travelers on both trips were diverse in age and very friendly. I had no trouble meeting new friends as a solo traveler. In fact, before both trips, I met a fellow traveler on the Facebook event page for the trip, and we planned a few days of additional travel together. I'm grateful to GEEO for giving me the opportunity to explore new countries that I wouldn't have had the courage to visit on my own.
I traveled to Greece this summer through GEEO. A wonderful, organized trip with energetic teachers was exactly what was provided. Jesse answered questions ahead of time. Mirjam was a tour leader who was knowledgeable about all of the things we were going to see and do in Greece. She was available 24 hours to us. The hotels were quaint and charming. I enjoyed the small villages we saw more than the big cities. People were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and fresh! Tomatoes, cucumbers, pita, chicken, swordfish, and gelato! We traveled by mini buses, vans, train, ferries, small boats, and more. I learned a lot about the ruins and history of Greece. Visited so many places in two weeks. I added on days in the beginning and at the end to see and do more activities. I would recommend booking a trip through GEEO.
I traveled to Greece this summer via GEEO, who partners with G Adventures. GEEO provided very well-organized information that helped me prepare for the trip, and Jesse was quickly responsive to questions and concerns. The trip was so informative and it was really lovely to be able to travel with other teachers who shared an interest in the history and archaeology.
I travelled with the Armenia & Georgia group, and I'd recommend the trip, particularly for solo travelers! Our tour guides were incredibly knowledgable and friendly, and the hotel accommodations included everything from "nice" to "fantastic." I enjoyed getting to know my fellow travelers, but I also had the luxury of a small group; keep in mind that some of the trips can have 14 or more people. Some of my favorite moments: visiting the genocide museum, Mother Armenia, climbing into St. Gregory's pit, climbing to the Temple of Garni, the Caucasus mountains, Uplistsikhe caves, wine tasting, a cooking class, touring Old Tbilisi! The trips are well planned and highly informative, but I especially appreciated that we occasionally had some down time to either rest or go exploring on our own. I definitely recommend GEEO for world-curious travelers!
I have taken numerous trips with GEEO. I love traveling with other teachers and our focus on schools and education. I just returned from Madagascar and the trip was well-organized, I felt safe, our CEO was amazing and passionate about his country. GEEO has the best customer service. Emails and phone calls are answered immediately. I plan on continuing my travels with GEEO.
There is no better way for an educator to see the world. I've taken four different trips with GEEO and will definitely do so again. The tours are designed to give the traveler a lot of freedom to either participate in group activities or venture off on your own. GEEO does an excellent job avoiding touristy hotels and adding many cultural experiences in each tour. Homestays are included in many of the tours. With GEEO you will travel by overnight train, van, bus, many types of boats, camel, donkey, airplane, jeep, and more, Never a dull day! My global experiences have definitely made me a better teacher. My students are not just reading about different countries and cultures but seeing my videos and pictures, adding depth to my lessons. One of the biggest benefits for me is I can travel alone without any issues. I always opt to share my room and have met some wonderful women that I feel will be lifelong friends. You just can't go wrong with GEEO. The tours are well-organized, offer a variety of experiences, and activities The service is amazing...
Jesse is great to work with! If you call or email him you will get a quick response with good information! I have greatly enjoyed each trip I have taken with GEEO!
We had a wonderful trip to Morocco with GEEO. The trip was well-organized, informative, and very affordable. The local tour leader we had was truly first class. He taught us so much about the history, culture, and current issues of the country. I will be sharing all that I learned with my students and the school community in the fall!
Great study tour experience traveling to Nepal and Tibet. I learned so much about Hinduism, Buddhism, politics, economics, and the cultures of these two locations that I can now share with my students. The landscapes are breathtaking.
I greatly appreciated the visits to the Sisterhood of Survivors Project which helps young women transitions out of human-trafficking and the Panauti home stay, a community based project, which helps local families in this village. Invaluable!!!
GEEO provides meaningful and impactful opportunities for educators to connect across the globe. Each time I have traveled with GEEO I've returned empowered and inspired to bring a sense of global awareness and appreciation to my students. I highly recommend this organization to any educator.
A trip to the Galapagos has always been a dream trip and GEEO fulfilled all my hopes for the trip. We had a very knowledgeable guide, saw all the animals I expected and had great accommodations and meals.
I recently went to India and Nepal with this organization. I feel like they thought of everything and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. I learned so much and I am so excited to bring it back to my students.
I participated in the Iceland trip, and it was fabulous! The trip was well planned, our guide was excellent, and the country is breathtakingly beautiful! Some of the highlights included whale watching--whales right beside our boat for over an hour, a glacier hike, hikes to the top of waterfalls, watching puffins, and fun with colleagues. GEEO put together an amazing trip that was educational and fun. I'm already looking forward to my next trip with GEEO!
I traveled for the first time with GEEO to Iceland over the past ten days. I did not have much experience abroad and was pretty nervous but I am so glad I took the chance. As someone who cares a lot about detail, I really appreciated the bountiful amount of advice and information offered both before and during the trip. Everything was laid out and explained perfectly. Every question I could have thought of was already answered on the website and I felt as prepared as I possibly could be for the experience. It was wonderful meeting a group of like-minded educators, our tour guide was phenomenal, I came away with literally a thousand amazing photographs, and I spent the last day of the trip traveling home on the plane ride already looking up future possible GEEO trips on their website. GEEO has my absolute highest recommendation.
I traveled to Iceland with GEEO and had an amazing time! We went whale watching and saw 5 whales frolicking right beside our boat for 45 minutes, and also climbed on a glacier. The terrain in Iceland is so different--it is like a different country. Our guide was fantastic, very professional and friendly. It was a terrific trip!
I went on a trip to India and Nepal in the summer of 2018 with an eclectic group of caring people of all different ages who I am now proud to call friends, many of them teachers like myself. Hands down it was the best traveling experience I've ever had, and this comes from an educator who has taught in 4 different countries and visited well over 50 countries. It was also the toughest traveling experience I've ever had in many ways. It kind of reminded me of the old army commercial, you know the one, "It's the toughest job you'll ever love." The heat and sheer density of people and cars presented some real challenges, but the payoff of what I learned and experienced far outweighed any negatives. It was definitely the toughest trip I ever loved. I can highly recommend GEEO!
This March was my first trip with GEEO (Morocco). I traveled there with a group of amazing teachers and had a fantastic experience. Our guide was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Although the trip was very fast-paced, it seemed effortless and easy because of how organized everything was. GEEO offers amazing, well-organized experiences all over the world and I would highly recommend them!
Jesse is very helpful and I enjoyed my experience with GEEO! I made great friends and thoroughly enjoyed my travel in Morocco!
I have done two trips to Africa with GEEO and was very happy with both of them. The trips are well planned with all the details thought out and well communicated before, during, and after the trip. Having the same local tour guide on the trip is very informative and interesting. The Executive Director, Jesse Weisz, is always available and has done many of the trips himself so he has firsthand experience and knowledge. The focus on how each trip can be potentially utilized in the classroom is very helpful. The benefits of using the trip for continuing education credits as well as being able to declare it as a tax write-off is great for teachers on a more fixed budget. It's also amazing to meet other teachers from all over the United States and to share stories/experiences in both teaching and life. I would highly recommend this travel group to educators and non-educators alike!
GEEO is absolutely wonderful! After taking my first trip with them to Ireland, I would recommend them to anyone and plan to take trips with GEEO in the future. The experience was absolutely fantastic - from the professional yet personal service provided by the GEEO team, to the tour itself with partner G-Adventures (phenomenal tour company, btw), and the connections made with other teachers on the trip made for an incredible experience. Also, the way the trip is set up, you are able to learn so much more about the area of travel than if you were to simply plan your own trip (and why hassle with all that planning when it's already done for you for at a great price?) When I returned to the classroom, I had fellow teachers ask me how I learned so much on a 10-day trip, and my students love hearing about the trip and are so much more engaged in lessons when I "sneak" in something to do with my Ireland GEEO trip. It's also an added bonus that you receive professional development credit - this is how PD for teachers should be all the time! And the connections you make with fellow teachers is priceless. Thank you GEEO for making travel for teachers not only possible, but an enriching experience!
Absolutely amazing organization. I attended the summer India/Nepal trip in 2017. I could not ask for a more professional, organized, safe, and engaging adventure. This organization took such great care of us, and our experiences were absolutely breathtaking. They are truly out to make great experiences for educators. I would recommend to everyone I know.
