Review for Eastside College Preparatory School, Inc., East Palo Alto, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been involved with Eastside for several years now and have been a student sponsor for the last five. I can honestly say that this has been one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. The first student I sponsored is now in college. When I met her she was a shy girl who could not imagine that she'd move very far from home. Now she is a confident young lady with big aspirations who is going to college at an east coast university ... 3,000 miles from home. She is there, the first person in her family to go to college, because of her hard work, the unrelenting dedication and passion of the Eastside staff, and the energy and support of her fellow Eastside students. For me, it was a joy to be able to participate in her success at Eastside and beyond and see that every dollar I spent was making something amazing happen. I encourage you to talk to someone at Eastside or visit the school and experience the uniqueness of the place. I don't doubt if you do you will want to support the efforts of the students and staff as I have.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

... everytime I visit the campus. The students want to be no place else, are willing to work hard to get where they want to go, and have an amazing group of teachers/staff there to support them in every way.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

... not change a thing; seems to be a formula that is really working.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

... being able to provide support on a very individual level and see how my contribution, along with that of others, can really help another person take off in life.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

... extremely dedicated. And, Chris Bishoff (the school's principal)is an amazing, visionary leader and really really cares about each student ... past, present and future.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

... send even more amazing young people out into the world to do great things for themselves, their families, their communities.

Ways to make it better...

... I can't really think of anything that would make it better ... it's been great.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

... they can only help so many students; that number can't substantially grow without significant and sustained support from more donors.

One thing I'd also say is that...

... go there and see if for yourself.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
