Review for Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions, San Francisco, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I wrote a review in 2020 when my stepdaughter and I began fostering two pigeons for Palomacy. We ultimately decided to adopt them both and since then have fostered several more, with four fosters currently. We also adopted a domestic Ringneck dove from Palomacy. I simply cannot say enough positive things about This organization and its founder, Elizabeth. The support and education they provide is incredible and we have really enjoyed getting more involved in outreach events for them. It is an amazing community resource and brings people and animals together in inspiring ways. We volunteered at an event at UC Davis and there was literally a line 20 people long, waiting just to hold a pigeon for the first time. And when they did, their eyes just lit up. It was an amazing thing to witness. We will be lifelong volunteers and supporters of Palomacy.

Review for Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions, San Francisco, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've been a supporter of Palomacy for more than a decade. This is an organization that truly fosters a sense of community among its volunteers and all the people whose lives are touched by the birds Palomacy rescues. And it all starts with Elizabeth, the founder, who works tirelessly not only to help all the unreleasable birds who are lucky enough to find their way to Palomacy, but to educate the public about the plight of these birds that are bred for meat, victims of the racing industry, or simply injured on the hectic city streets. We are currently fostering two pigeons--a racing survivor and a bred-for-squab survivor. The day Elizabeth brought them to us, she spent nearly 2 hours with us, showing us how to handle the birds, showing us how to give medicine, and explaining how when we went on vacation, we could count on the Palomacy network of volunteers to help us with bird-sitting. Elizabeth runs an amazing Facebook group that connects people all over the world and offers excellent help for people rescuing pigeons and doves who don't know where to begin. If Palomacy simply existed to get these birds the medical help they need, it would be doing heroic work, but it is so more. Through tireless educational efforts through classes, the Palomacy website, the Facebook group, and other outreach, Palomacy is helping the community wake up to the needs of local birds they see everyday and give them a helping hand. I am so grateful to be a part of Palomacy.
