Review for Biodiversity Conservation Alliance, Laramie, WY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Matthieu Ricard once said, "What counts is not the enormity of the task, but the size of the courage" This is what I have experienced over the years with BCA -- it is an organization filled with the kind of smart, caring people who just don't give up. And in Wyoming this counts for so much! Even tho some of the staff people have changed over the twenty years this group has been around, the mission hasn't -- they're still using science and law to win on behalf of clean rivers, old growth forests, restored prairies and all the beautiful wildlife living in these landscapes. It takes a lot of grist and heart not to go down into despair in this environmental crisis -- I love and admire all these folks for continuing their work. They inspire me.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Their work to document the need to protect ground nesting birds and raptors in the midst of new wind farm developments. This is a razor's edge for any environmentalist, and BCA has been teaching themselves and agencies how to look carefully at this issue.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Their tenacity. They use the logo of the Badger: an animal that is fiercely protective of its territory. If you ever saw a "David and Goliath" situation, it's BCA fighting the powerful oil and gas industry that's been let loose in WY.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

This group already does so much with so little money! They could pay themselves a decent salary and hire all the legal, scientific and communications staff TODAY that they need to file the lawsuits and petitions so necessary to protecting our environment.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months
