Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Environment, Forest Conservation, Natural Resources Conservation & Protection

Mission: To empower indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest to preserve their lands and culture and, using insights gained from that work, to educate and inspire individuals everywhere to bring forth a thriving, just and sustainable world.

Results: For nearly 20 years, we have worked with the indigenous people of the South-Central region of the Ecuadorian Amazon Basin. During this time, our indigenous partners have successfully resisted all attempts to drill oil in their territory. However, our indigenous partners have requested that we change the "dream of the modern world," shift our relationship to the Earth and its resources, so that the threat of oil exploitation in the Amazon disappears. So, for the past 10 years, we have delivered educational programs to thousands of participants, helping them awaken to the needs of our time, and become inspired to take action for a just and sustainable future.

Target demographics: Indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest, and pro-activist leaders from all over the world

Geographic areas served: Ecuador and all over the World

Programs: We provide funding for numerous workshops and assemblies so that indigenous communities of the Ecuadorian Amazon are fully informed about plans for oil development in their lands, and so that their voices calling for territorial preservation are clearly heard. Our program Jungle Mamas improves maternal & family health in Achuar communities by providing Clean Birth Kits and educational workshops on birthing practices, and neonatal health. Jungle Mamas also builds composting toilets to maintain healthy water for communities. Our Awakening the Dreamer Symposium wakes up individuals everywhere to how the way we live impacts the whole world around us, including the Amazon rainforest, towards bringing forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on this planet. Our Up to Us engagement pathway provides opportunities for Symposium participants to continue to take action to create a world where our indigenous partners no longer have to struggle to keep their rainforest home safe.

There is really no other organization like the Pachamama Alliance - driven by passion to envision a just, sustainable, fulfilling world for all beings and grounded in such deep integrity and authenticity. Since volunteering at the annual luncheon last year I have participated in several events: Awakening the Dreamer symposium, Game Changer Intensive, Awakening the Dreamer facilitator training, etc. Pachamama Alliance not only offers the tools to create a better world, they empower individuals to become change makers and instill confidence that we all have a role to play in addressing huge issues like climate change. And the alliance is 95% individual donor funded, giving them even greater integrity (not being funded by corporations with special interests.)

Pachamama Alliance is a real leader in work to save the rainforest, the planet and its inhabitants. I currently work on a local Drawdown committee, through Pachamama, to reverse global warming. I have also traveled with Pachamama to visit the Achuar Tribe in the Ecuadorian rainforest, which was life changing. The organization is well run and true to its mission.

Every now and then I heard "Pachamama this... Pachamama that..." and everybody around me seemed to know what this was about. I knew it should be something good, since I appreciated the people talking about it. It took me some years to investigate further by myself... and falling in love with Pachamama Alliance was very quick! In one of his newsletters David Spangler quoted the Drawdown project, this was the last impulse I needed.
I went to the website, searched and got immediate contact to real people, many individuals sharing a language of the heart with me. Direct, open, authentic friendly... I started by engaging myself with translations of Drawdown materials. This activity increases my sense of belonging and at the same time I am free to discover so much more... Pachamama Alliance's website its huge, it is like a big birthday present I unpack... and find so much to draw upon!!!! Sometimes I take part at webinars, again a wonderful chance to nurture my care and my love for Life. I do bow to the deep commitment of the team behind all that...
Pachamama has been a word we use now at home, I refer to it and my child knows what I am talking about. The good and blessed energy of all it involves is part of our daily lives in the most gentle and genuine way!

The Pachamama Alliance's stated purpose (to nurture an environmentally sustainable, socially just, spiritually fulfilling human presence on the planet) is inspiring, and their work bears it out. Their educational programs to bring this positive outcome about are outstanding. Their environmental classes based on the book Drawdown are getting people into action to solve the climate crises. I've been facilitating these classes for a year, and they are getting people into effective action and bringing grounded optimism around the globe.

I have been involved with the Pachamama Alliance since 2012 and it has become a community that grounds my life and empower me into action! From my first transforming experience at an Awakening the Dreamer program, then another indescribable Journey into the Amazon - my heart was opened in new ways and my worldview transformed forever! From that new indigenous vision of the interconnectedness of all life, I am fully immersed in the mission of the organization - helping create a world that is environmentally sustainable, socially just and spiritually fulfilling. This organization has given me a community (national, global and local) that has empowered me into personal growth and action. The empowering leadership/culture of the PA has been a model to me in creating and growing our own local Pachamama and Drawdown communities in the Rochester NY area. I am so grateful and encourage everyone to learn more! Go to www.pachamama.org. First I recommend watching the Awakening the Dreamer on-line course! Then the on-line version of the Introduction to Drawdown! And then go deeper with the 8 week webinar - Game Changer Intensive! There's so much to learn and action to take as we create the better world we want for future generations! And always with the support of community! Thank you Pachamama Alliance for opening doors to my heart, community and the world!

I've thought of myself as a Child of the Universe for over 50 years. With Pachamama Alliance I've been able to meet a lot of other children like me.

Pachamama Alliance is a great place to learn - you can awaken your dreamer, become a game changer, participate in drawdown ... and, and, and.

A lot of roots are planted there and the followers are striking at those roots that are problematic. Terrific organization!

I am an avid volunteer with Pachamama Alliance . I have been with them for well over 10 years. I facilitated Awakening the Dreamer Symposiums for many of those years. I've met the leadership in the organization by attending their annual luncheons in San Francisco and San Diego. I've traveled with them to Ecuador to experience first hand the lives of some of the most remote indigenous tribes in South America. These tribes were the inspiration for the establishment of Pachamama Alliance. I looked at them from top to bottom and from experience declare them, "The Best".

I've been involved for years with the Pachamama Alliance, first as a student in their GameChanger course, and then continuing as a facilitator/moderator for the course several times afterwards. I am continually invigorated with their work, message and progress in this world for it is greatly needed.

Pachamama Alliance has been a catalyst for my shift in philanthropic focus. For years I have been trying to figure out how my company could make an impact on the environment and now I have found my path. Pachamama works in partnership with indigenous people to co-create solutions that will protect the sacred headwathers of the Amazon rainforest. The team is exemplary in how they are leading global change.

The Pachamama Alliance has so inspired me that I have touched thousands of people with their message and their unparalleled programs. I'm speaking around the world, training others to do the same, helping design initiatives, presenting in online programs, leading people deep into the Amazon rainforest and more.

I didn't recognize how much I needed this avenue to contribute to environmental sustainability, social justice, and spiritual well being on a global and local level until I found TPA. It has changed the trajectory of my life and all of my family, in beautiful and unexpected ways!

On every level of integrity and service, Pachamama Alliance is reaching its goals and bringing great benefit to this world.

I have participated in 3 of their online courses and what a professionally run and meticulously organized system they have created to inform and inspire.

Beyond that, I am so motivated by their contribution that I have changed my entire engagement as a citizen of this country and world.

I am continually nourished by their networking and support that remains ongoing and available on so many diverse topics.

The relationships that have been fostered as a result of their planning and organization are valued and growing.

They model everything that I aspire to as an individual!

The Pachamama Alliance, while waking up the world to climate change, also woke me up to my place in the process, gave me skills and hope and a way to move in this changing world.
I trained as a facilitator for the Awakening the Dreamer course, presented a couple of years and now am living the course material in my life, living the teaching each day, sharing with my community and doing all I can not to be part of the problem, to lead others to solutions.

I have learned information I am able to use personally and share with my family and community about what I can do in my home and neighborhood to care for Pachamama. I am also more informed about what is happening on a global level and feel that is useful in my meditation as well as investmeny and political choices.

The Pachamama Alliance is laser focused on their mission, "To Create an Environmentally Sustainable, Socially Just, and Spiritually Fulfilling Human Presence on this Planet". Their approach is one I can support - empowering local leadership to be the solution in their communities, from the Achuar in Ecuador to me in California. The educational materials the provide to support this empowerment are first class. I feel my financial support has been well utilized.

I have to say that the online offerings of Pachamama Alliance are truly outstanding. They are total quality from start to finish, free of charge, and come with a human support system! I plan to start offering opportunities for people in my community to experience these courses in groups ... at libraries, churches, schools, etc. I know that others who are involved with the Pachamama Alliance (PA) are doing this and I'm already in touch with them by way of the Global Commons forum, also provided by PA. I cannot speak highly enough of the amount this organization is doing to spread the word about climate change and to encourage people to treat the earth respectfully. I've been doing some online courses in various areas of interest and nowhere have I encountered such a high quality, wholistic approach as PA provides. I also like the fact that PA works hand-in-hand with indigenous people, bringing support to them and their worldview to us so that we can truly be one humanity in spirit while respecting diverse ways of living. So far, I have done the Project Drawdown and Awakening the Dreamer courses. I plan to share both of these courses widely.

Pachamama is at the forfront of intersectioal thinking - the interconnecedness of all life and issues. This organization weaves together issues around the environment, indigenous peoples, animals, etc. - issues that are all connected to the dominance culture as a current paradigm, one that we must change to make the world safe for all beings - Like the Extiction and Climate crisis we face on this planet. We humans must wake up to the interconnectedness of all! Our congregation uses Pachamama's materials in our social and environmental justice work. Thanks!
