Over two years ago we made a very hard decision to bring our Cockatoo (Cirque) to Zaksee's as we no longer could keep him at our home in Virginia. To this day, we have not regretted that decision. Magic has taken such good care of Cirque from the very start. Before we brought Cirque to Zaksee's he had  plucked almost all of the feathers on his chest and had started going after the ones on his legs. In less than a years time, while under the care of Magic, all of Cirque's feathers had grown back and we could not tell that they had ever been plucked out. Magic started Cirque in a large aviary with about a dozen other Cockatoos where there were as many different personalities as occupants. It had become evident that Cirque had made friends with another cockatoo (Casper) who has a very similar personality as our Cirque.  Magic felt that Cirque needed to be moved out of the communal aviary into his own smaller aviary where he would be much better off and was able to bring his friend Casper with him. TO make this happen, Magic and I built the new aviary using a design that Magic has come up with to better house the larger parrots.  SInce living in his new aviary, Cirque and Casper have grown into even better friends and appear to be very happy there. We visit Zaksee's whenever we are vacationing in Florida, which is 2 or 3 times a year for several weeks at a time. We love to help take care of all the parrots when we visit, as there is always lots to do each day providing water, food and loving on our feathered friends. Each time we visit we always see improvements that have been made to the sanctuary between landscaping, new enclosures, and many other things.  WHen we visit, my wife loves to spend hours feeding the parrots, playing with them and talking with them. If we lived in Florida, we have said many times that we would volunteer at Zaksee's on a regular basis. We are so very glad that we found Zaksee's and that our Cirque is a resident of this wonderful sanctuary. We do what we can each month to financially support our Cirque and help support Casper as well.  Many of the Parrots that have been left at Zaksee's do not have any sponsor/supporters as the prior owners are not known.  We would encourage anyone who loves birds to support the "orphans" that need your help.
