Review for Gateway Humane Society Inc, Falls Creek, PA, USA

Rating: 1 stars

This is the worst shelter i've ever tried to deal with. Saw a fantastic looking senior pet on PetFinder and am very interested in him but I give up. I inquired after him via PetFinder and never hear from the shelter. I called twice and an extremely unhelpful and nasty woman picked up the phone - i ended up just hanging up on her. I've sent two emails which have gone unanswered, just asking the status of the pet. The shelter is 3 hours away and I would hate to drive 3 hours for him not to be there. They clearly have ZERO interest in adopting out the pets they have. I feel very sorry for any animals who end up here. I was also going to bring donations but I guess i'll help another shelter. Are they really deserving of the non-profit status, because I don't think they are doing a thing to find pets homes.

Review for Caring Hearts Rescue, Springfield, VA, USA

Rating: 1 stars

My experience with Caring Hearts has been very disappointing. I saw a dog I was interested in on PetFinder and inquired twice with no response. I finally contacted the organization directly and they told me that they don't respond to individual emails and i needed to fill out an application, which I did. So that is the first problem - the PetfFinder system has the Ask About This Pet option, so if Caring Hearts doesn't answer emails, then maybe they should not post their pets on PetfFinder. As far as my application, I offered to take a 15 year old dog and had another dog as a back up, in case my first choice had been taken. It's been several weeks now and no one has responded, so I have moved on. You would think if someone was willing to take a 15 year old dog, the rescue might want to respond, but nope. I am just posting this so no one else spends a lot of time applying and getting their hopes up, only to be let down. I feel like shelters are the best way to go. Rescues are always a let down.

Hi Jen, We did look into your application and emails and see multiple emails sent to you from our organization. We're not sure why you did not receive them. You may need to check your spam folder. We contacted greatnonprofits to see if this review can be deleted because you were sent email responses several times. Thanks

Jen, Two different volunteers spent several hours on the phone with you trying to find a match for you. It turned out you just adopted a senior dog in the past few months and you were in the process of adopting a senior Pit Bull. We asked that you consider waiting to adopt a new dog because you were in the process of trying to adopt the Pit Bull. We asked that you keep us posted on the progress of the adoption of the Pit Bull. We are saddened by the inaccurate information you wrote in your response because we had spent so much time on phone calls and numerous emails. We hope that everything is working out with your two newly adopted dogs and hope you find what you are looking for.
