Spent a couples weekend at the Maple Hall Inn in Lexington, VA. When parenting our child we are a team...a tag team, so we rarely get a chance to both be at rest at the same time.
This weekend was ideal and filled a need to just reconnect with each other. The Inn was lovely, clean, and comfortable. There were no expectations, no obligations, no social commitments, just wonderful self-guided rest. We spent the first day running around, trying to fit in activities that are usually cumbersome with an active kid (no way are we taking him antiquing or to a wine tasting, lol). We had plans to fill up the second day as well, but after a delicious breakfast (prepared by SOMEONE ELSE--ahhhhh), we went back to our room to relax and we both woke up way after Noon. lol. Clearly we needed rest even more than we realized.
This foundation, run by Andrea and supported through her Porch Partners is an invaluable service that every Mom and Dad should try at least once.
We are already planning for one next year.
Please continue to expand and offer these respites to parents and other caregivers around the country. It is much needed and so appreciated.
