Since retiring from healthcare in 2017, I have been volunteering with this top notch organization at our truly humble headquarters in Raleigh, NC. I see first hand the dedication Curamericas Global has to giving a future to, and improving that future of, some of the most vulnerable mothers and children in some of the most forgotten and needy of places in this world.

What are a few of the reasons I chose this particular organization to support? Simply stated, Curamericas GETS IT RIGHT! One is we are invited to the communities with which we partner with the goal of giving a hand up, not a hand out, until the community can sustain their own efforts. This has actually happened in the first partnership country of Bolivia. They are self-sustaining! Another is each dollar donated is handled with the utmost care and never wasted. Heck, we recycle manila file folders over and over. Yet another is that Curamericas wants nothing in return from the communities we serve...only to see our culturally respectful joint efforts pay off in terms of reducing the number of lives lost from preventable diseases and bringing hope through health to all we can. Again, this is actually happening. For example, there hasn't been a single death from pregnancy in our now self-sustaining project in Montero, Bolivia for over 10 years. Another example is the locally nicknamed "Triangle of Death" in Guatemala has been changed into a model area where death rates for mothers and children have been reduced by over 60% in a few short years, and now the area is locally known as the "Triangle of Life"! How great is that!!

Curamericas is one small but powerful organization with scientifically measured success and a unique approach working to end preventable maternal and child deaths, AND IT DOES!
