Yoko came to GDHS from Derry Animal Control after being tossed out of a moving vehicle. She was bloody, matted and covered in feces. She suffered from Cushing's and then later from Addisons Disease. She was a feisty biter who trusted no one. She soon learned to love again, care again, and to have fun once again. After months of care, she trusted a very small circle of our family. She had people interested in adopting her, but her attitude said she wasn't going anywhere. We fostered her for over two years before adopting. She had so many ailments, the vet suggested she be put to sleep, but GDHS would not hear of it. After each new crisis, she recovered fully and again enjoyed her life with her family of Willow the hound, and Penny, the terrier. All three dogs came from Greater Derry Humane Society. Finally, x-rays showed a very large and fast growing tumor growing around her stomach. Over the next 2 years she fought a battle of life and death several times and always won. She enjoyed life and it was easy to see what a family dog she became. By then she clung to me as her go-to-buddy. Sadly, on Oct. 20, 2018 her fight ended when she sighed her last breath, closed her eyes and her body slept in peace. Thank you to GDHS for treating her with dignity and respect until the end.

and to learn and always be learning.
I taught her to like and to love.
