The National Home Funeral Alliance is by far one of the most important non-profit organizations existing today. Families and communities are reclaiming their innate sacred right to care for their own dead again, in ways that care for the earth as well. The NHFA and its fabulous website are an incredible resource for anyone wishing to know families' legal rights by state, how to do body care after death, how to find home funeral and green burial guides, how to bring more healing and nourishing ways to say goodbye at the end of life. I have devoted an entire chapter in my newly published book Reimagining Death: Stories and Practical Wisdom for Home Funerals and Green Burials, North Atlantic Books, 2019 to the NHFA because I believe in NHFA's gifts, value and importance for this time.
