As the CEO and President of a Home Health and Hospice Agency I sought out information from the NHFA to inform my community of their options and rights for a home funeral. Living in the mountains of Colorado the majority of citizens prefer independence, control and choices. The resources and immediate response supplied by the NHFA was informative, complete and met all the needs. I was able to access the rights and process a citizen could chose to care for their deceased loved one in the home with as much connection to a funeral home as desired. The NHFA provides the tools, knowledge and options we all deserve.

I came across NHFA while studying with Momdoulary, LLC. They have provided me with so much incredible information over the past three years. They seem to have grown and expanded as an entity, as well, reaching more of the population that wants to be involved in this movement. Their commitment seems invaluable and I hope they continue to be supported, as they have supported so many.

The National Home Funeral Alliance is by far one of the most important non-profit organizations existing today. Families and communities are reclaiming their innate sacred right to care for their own dead again, in ways that care for the earth as well. The NHFA and its fabulous website are an incredible resource for anyone wishing to know families' legal rights by state, how to do body care after death, how to find home funeral and green burial guides, how to bring more healing and nourishing ways to say goodbye at the end of life. I have devoted an entire chapter in my newly published book Reimagining Death: Stories and Practical Wisdom for Home Funerals and Green Burials, North Atlantic Books, 2019 to the NHFA because I believe in NHFA's gifts, value and importance for this time. This great group of dedicated change agents is working to empower and educate families to care for their own dead. I have learned so much from their conferences and videos and posts which has changed my view and helped to eliminate fears and misconceptions. I appreciate their unobtrusive approach and their compassion.

A nonprofit that empowers our communities to come together and support each other. We need community more than ever before. This lost art of coming together needs to relearned.

Supporting one another in troubled times, coming together to share the weight and honouring those we love. What could be more powerful than this!

I first found the NHFA in 2015, my heart was opened by the importance of the mission and the ways they make a difference for families at the most challenging time of their lives. I began serving on the board in 2017 because I saw that I could take the message of home funerals into my own community and make a big difference. The NHFA website is full of important information for families to DIY a home funeral- saving money, impacting their experience of grief and lessening the impact on the environment. I most appreciate the work the NHFA does to advocate for and protect families rights to care for their own loved ones after death.

The Nhfa is proof that a small group of people can have a mighty impact on the world. Run by an all-volunteer board, this organization has gathered up more than 2000 members in less than a decade. Despite its name, it is truly an international organization with members from around the world. It provides critically important information to empower families and communities to care for their own dead. I am so honored to be a part of this incredibly hard-working board, and to be a part of the Home funeral movement.

While home funerals are by no means a "norm" in North America, there is certainly a wave of interest in families wanting to know more about this beautiful, meaningful option. The NHFA stands at the forefront of this movement as loving educators, and strong advocates helping to clarify what is legal, assuage fears, and guide anyone who has an inkling that a home funeral might be right for them or someone they love. The heart of NHFA is their membership consisting of a vibrant array of celebrants, home funeral guides, and funeral professionals who empower families and educate the public across the country. I am so proud to be part of this progressive organization.

Outstanding! I first joined the NHFA as a volunteer in 2016 and was so impressed that I joined the board. Without a doubt, the NHFA is the foremost resource for home funeral education. I have personally seen the immeasurable comfort their programming has provided to families across the country. As a licensed funeral director I am honored to be involved with such a stellar organization.
