I received my concussion when leaving my work shift taking out the garbage, falling on the ice, taking the entire impact to the back of my head. When I came to and attempted to get up and ‘shake it off’ I knew it was bad...then really bad. I never expected the twists and turns this injury and journey has thrown my way. Had it not been for this group, which I found after someone from pink concussions posted on another TBI support group I was a member of, I would not be where I am today. These women inspired, educated, laughed and cried with me and still do every day. We are warriors in this fight for outstanding medical treatment, understanding, support, and awareness of the complexity of female brain injury. I owe much of my recovery to their support.
