I received a call from their paid fundraising organization, Innovative. In the process of the call with me, Innovative proceeded to break federal laws regarding solicitations. When I asked for their corporate contact information, they put me on hold for 10 minutes before disconnecting the call.

I followed up with CLF, originally because I wondered if it might just have been a phishing scam. Instead, I got a call back from CLF immediately to follow up on my experience. They confirmed Innovative is their fundraising partner. They also not only refused to give me Innovative's corporate contact info but tried to talk me out of lodging a formal FCC complaint because Innovative's work benefits CLF.

A very brief lesson on ethics from my college professor: If it is illegal, it is unethical, end of story.

Keep in mind CLF has no problem with illegal acts, which are by definition unethical, so long as they benefit. That's a bad mindset for any organization, but most especially for a non-profit.

I will be donating my money elsewhere, I suggest everyone else does the same.
