Review for Operation Paws for Homes, N.Chesterfield, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I recently worked with Operation Paws for Homes to find a new canine family member. After months of research we decided to send applications to a few different rescues to get approved for adoption so when a dog came along that we liked we could meet her and adopt her quickly. I am shocked at how bad the communication was with all other shelters BESIDES Operation Paws for Homes (OPH). The staff at OPH is very responsive, detailed, and thoughtful. They are meticulous in the adoption process which is great as they ensure prospective adopters are going to be a good fit for their pets. After filling out an application we were approved within days, we were then able to schedule a visit with the foster family and our pup Lizzie.

Upon adoption we were provided detailed paperwork with our new dog's (Lizzie) medical records, a bag of food, and were educated on her daily routine, likes and dislikes, and commands. Our dog was a stray so she is going to require some training but she's a sweet dog and you can tell that OPH and the foster family took great care of her. I thought she would be aggressive, isolate, and passive but she is playful, socialized, and energetic. I would highly recommend OPH to anyone considering adoptions, I've already passed their contact information to a few friends.

Side note: I literally still have pending applications out with other rescues which I sent well over a month ago (MAMAS Shelter / Safe Haven Puppy Rescue is the worst). Go with a rescue that cares about the dogs and is responsive in getting them to the right home at the right pace
