The results-driven tutoring (focused on the learner's expressed practical needs) produces tangible, life-changing impacts for our learners. Newport Mesa Proliteracy does amazing hands-on work, directly changing the lives of both learners and tutors. This organization supports the adult reading-challenged community in a supportive, patient and dignified environment, enabling learners to profoundly change the quality of their lives. The organization has a lean operating budget and relies heavily on volunteer support, so its funds go directly to enriching the lives of its learners. Imagine knowing you were part of an organization that helped a parent learn to read stories to their children, enabled a person to confidently apply for a better job, or prepared an individual to interact with neighbors and co-workers in English to develop new connections with their community.
