I have been a PETA member and donor for more than 20 years, adopted three horses and two dogs rescued by the organization, and participated in many of its campaigns. I have tremendous respect for PETA's smart, compassionate, and brave staff members; and I know of no organization that has accomplished more to make the world a better place for animals.

Animal Place holds a very special place in my life, for multiple reasons. My first visit to the sanctuary in the year 2000 inspired me to become vegetarian, and set me on the path to ultimately going fully vegan and doing advocacy for animals. Even when I moved from San Francisco to the east coast, I continued to stay in touch with Animal Place and to make periodic financial contributions. In the year 2015, after my husband died in an accident, the staff were incredibly helpful in giving me advice. They also invited me to become active with their Food for Thought program, which helps animal and environmental nonprofits to adopt vegan event menu policies. This collaboration was a great success for Animal Place and the other participating organizations, and serving as both a donor and regular volunteer gave me a renewed sense of purpose. I have returned to visit the sanctuary annually since 2016, for Thank the Turkeys and other events, and find it so inspiring to visit the animals and their beautiful location, and to spend time with the dedicated and compassionate people who make it all possible!
