I've visited Animal Place a few times and taken the hosted tour. I also attended their Thanksgiving with the Turkeys event. I love animals but how many people, including myself until now, have had the opportunity to see them in a natural and nurturing environment where they display the same behaviors as a domestic companion animal. Farm animals are just as domesticated as that cat or dog except they mostly live on a farm instead of in a home on a couch but that doesn't change their existence as sentient creatures. I'd like to think we have evolved as humans and don't need to subsist on animal flesh anymore, however, I see what has not changed every day in the meat and deli aisle of the grocery store. If more people had a species experience like at Animal Place, perhaps they would think differently about these animals before they become the "farm to table" experience.
