My husband & I moved to Frisco, Texas in 2013 from Florida. We didn't know many people in Frisco & since we were used to volunteering our time in non-profits we felt out of sorts in this new community. We first heard about Be The Difference Foundation when our niece told us that she was going to be in a cycling event In Boca Raton, Florida to raise monies for Ovarian Cancer. We had not heard of this organization & we were shocked when she told us they were based in Dallas, Texas--only a few miles from where we had moved to! This was a bit eerie as our niece was participating in the cycling event in honor of her mother (my sister) who passed away from Ovarian Cancer. Was this my sister trying to tell us something ?? After meeting Shannon Albert & Jon Mize, we knew instantly this was where we wanted to direct our energies. They both were very welcoming & we were impressed with their passion for bringing awareness to women and men about Ovarian Cancer. Plus, Jon told us he was in constant contact with our niece as he was helping her organize the Florida event. Another eerie moment. From then on we have been hooked! We started volunteering at the Dallas Wheel To Survive and will continue to help the organization in every way we can. And huge thank yous to Jill, Julie, Lynn & Helen for your courage, vision & tenacity in forming this wonderful foundation that is not only helping bring awareness about Ovarian Cancer but also aids those who are fighting this difficult disease.
