Review for Denton County Mhmr Center, Denton, TX, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I lived in Hunt County and moved to Denton County. I knew I needed to find a support group immediately. I went to Denton County MHMR (DCMHMR) Center hoping to find one. Yes, I did just that. The group was called Road to Recovery. I had found what I was looking for. I continued to go for about a year when I decided to try going back to work (part time). The group was extremely supportive and encouraging. To make a long story short, I found a job working part time at DCMHMR for 1 1/2 years and then became full time after 2 years. As a Peer Specialist I facilitate groups and one on ones serving 30 people in 2019 on a weekly basis. I love my job at DCMHMR! I love the people I work with too. Most importantly, I love the people I serve. I have had jobs that make good money and I was miserable. The job I have as a Peer Specialist doesn't make a lot of money, but it IS the BEST job I have ever had to date because of the people I serve. They give me meaning and purpose each and every day to provide hope, encouragement, confidence, and empowerment in THEIR lives. You can't put a price on that! So, in a nutshell, if you are in need .... don't hesitate to contact DCMHMR and find what you are looking for like I did. Thank you DCMHMR for what you have done in my life, I am truly grateful. ~~~Melanie~~~

Review for Prosumers International, San Antonio, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Prosumers helped me get my life back on to a track. I don't think about surviving anymore. I think about thriving. Prosumers got me to thinking about who I really am and where do I want to go.

Hi. My name is Melanie. I am a unique and "perfect" just the way I am. I went to my first Prosumers meeting and there I found out that I was not alone. I learned that I had an illness but it did not have me. For the first time in my life, I wanted to change my thoughts about unworthiness. Then it hit me. I had the power to change. I had the power to make my life better. I had the power to have a future. A future with whatever I wanted to create. To create a life full of meaning and purpose.

I continued to go to meetings and ended up asking about where there were meetings closer to my work. I was told there were none. Where could I get Prosumers near me? What could I do to make that happen? You guessed it, I made it happen in Denton. I am the District Director of Denton Prosumers. Not only do I continue to enjoy Denton meetings, I choose to share my life with a wonderful group of people that I love and who love me.

Today, I can honestly say that my life is full of supportive family members that are blood related and a chosen family of Denton Prosumers. Denton Prosumers encourage me to keep fighting the good fight. They empower me to live the life I love. Most importantly, they love me unconditionally.

In a nutshell, my Prosumer family has rescued me from an old ending. Prosumers has given me a new beginning. I am grateful for all of you. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

I LIVE THE LIFE I LOVE!!!!!!!!!

Peace~~~Melanie
