Working with Andrea and Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue has been a truly gratifying experience. As a longtime chinchilla owner, I've spent years educating myself and others on how to take care of chinchillas. With recent life changes, I found myself in the unhappy position of having to rehome my two mosaic chinchillas - a heartbreaking experience. I spent months researching potential new owners and homes, to no avail. There wasn't a perfect fit, so I kept parenting the two chins until the day that I found Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue. I learned of the rescue after a random search on Facebook, and began doing research immediately. Locally based in the tri-state area, the photos and description of Andrea's sanctuary and rescue was above and beyond my expectations for any home - let alone rescue - that I could find. I dove deep into her website and found that my conclusions about chinchilla care and well-being (after many years of chinchilla experience and research) matched up perfectly. Andrea is well-educated when it comes to these animals, and beyond caring. She drove over three hours to meet me part-way and had a carrier full of apple sticks and timothy hay to greet the ladies. I could tell she was a real natural with these animals. We chatted for 15 minutes on the phone before the meeting, and continued chatting when we met in person. I needed to make sure she was the right person for these precious fluffballs, and that her facilities were the right home - no small feat. She assured me of a single Ferret Nation unit for the duo and a healthy diet of pellets and hay as long as they are in her care. Her adoption applications are also no joke. She is discerning, caring, and particular about these pets - and I cannot be more thankful that she is doing what she is doing with this non-profit, both for caring owners like myself, and neglected or sick chinchillas that are fortunate enough to find their way to her. I encourage all chinchilla lovers to donate to Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue, because Andrea is running a sanctuary that puts chinchillas first when their initial owners are no longer able to. I am forever grateful to Andrea and her non-profit for making the process as heartfelt, efficient, safe, and practical as possible. If only there were more chinchilla champions like her in this world!
