Andrea was just a wealth of information for me when my Chinchilla Mickey had tooth abscess and teeth issues . She was in constant contact with me and guided me until Mickey was better.
Andrea is the most kind selfless person that I came to know who's love and great knowledge of these animals shines though. I donated to her wonderful cause as she helps so many animals and families with her care and time I hope that you will donate as well so that she can continue to provide her care and knowledge to this outstanding rescue.
Thanks Andrea your the greatest! God Bless!
I first found Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue Inc's page in 2015 and have been a regular customer ever since.
I am a chin parent and live in the United Kingdom. As there is not a lot of chinchilla-friendly items over here this webpage has been perfect for our little chin. Most of the wood, toys and treats in shops near us are made from unsafe wood or materials for chinchilla's. Even amazon did not have what we were looking for.
Everything we have ever ordered from this organisation has been made lovingly and our little chinchilla has loved it.
The information this Rescue provides is invaluable. If ever I have had a problem or query about how to raise our chinchilla - I have come straight to this organisation that provides useful information about food, emotional and physical health and general knowledge about chinchillas.
Thank you, I really cannot rate Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue Inc enough!
Andrea is a very caring loving earth angel to these sweet little creatures of God. Her passion and love for the wellbeing of her fur babies is palpable. If human beings could love each other the way that Andrea loves these little animals life would be a breeze. Keep up the good work Miss Andrea!
Where do I begin....Andrea is one of the most selfless people I have ever met in my life. Her big heart and love for these chinchillas radiates. Had we not come across Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue, we would not have had our little chin, Daisy, for as long as we did. Andrea was in constant communication with us until she knew Daisy was doing better. She helped us nurse our little one back to health with the aid of a local exotic animal vet Andrea helped us find. Our family wanted to meet the beautiful soul that helped us for years and not only to donate to her rescue, but to give her our time as she did for us and many others. This year we had the opportunity of meeting Andrea and her over 100 chinchillas she solely cares for on a daily basis. She has dedicated her life to these animals and has created a personal bond with each and every chinchilla she has at her rescue. Andrea is clean, organized and full of love. Many of the chinchillas here require extra care and many vet visits to ensure optimal health. Chinchillas require a lot of love, attention and care. Seeing how Andrea interacts with each one, truly melts my heart and brings the biggest smile to my face. If you can donate to her, please do. Andrea and dedicated her life and time to these beautiful animals in addition to helping chin owners world wide. You don't come across people like her every day.
Andrea, thank you for all you have done for our family. Your time, love and friendship are cherished and mean so much. Love to you!
As a pet owner we have all been there, is this normal and am I doing the right thing. As exotic pet owners these questions are not always answered quickly and easily by a simple call to our local veterinarian.
It was during one of these moments that I reached out to Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue for help. The rescue website had already become a valuable resource to me, I had visited previously for chinchilla specific information and had purchased the "Organic Herb & Grain Fusion" which Andrea developed herself. I was pleasantly surprised by prompt return contact, Andrea was extremely helpful and eager to share her vast knowledge and experience with me. Not only did she support me that night, she also made repeat contact to confirm a positive outcome.
Through this experience Andrea and I discovered a shared love of animals and a common concern for their well being. I have been in the unique position to speak with Andrea after numerous difficult rescues. Her focus is always on the animals welfare and that of the unfortunate owners who find themselves in a difficult situation. Although these circumstances can be exhausting, both fiscally and mentally, Andrea never wavers in her commitment to provide the desperately needed help for these chinchillas.
It is Andrea's selflessness and complete devotion to the rescue and the chinchillas in her care that make both her and Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue a rare gem in the crown of animal rescue and well fare.
I first ran across the website for Forever Feisty Chinchilla rescue when I was doing research on bladder stones in chins. Two of my fur kids had developed the condition quickly and within weeks of one another, and I was desperate to learn more and reach out to others who had experienced something similar. It is very difficult to find rescues and groups dedicated to just chinchillas, and even tougher to find someone who is well-versed in the care and health of these animals. I emailed Andrea, who heads this group, and we threw thoughts back and forth for several days. She was very through in asking questions and really seemed to care about the kids :) The website for the rescue is easy to navigate, has a TON of information and even a cool store. And after sending out my initial email, Andrea responded back in less than a day.
One of the things that was neat to see was a video interview of the rescue (featured on many chinchilla facebook sites). I had no idea this group was also a sanctuary to a whole bunch of chins-which is amazing- or how many people reach out to them each year. If anyone is looking for reliable chinchilla information, or if they are looking for help, I would definitely recommend Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue!
I have a one and a half year old chinchilla named Nugget and she hasn't had the easiest life recently. About two months ago she got her leg stuck in a hay holder I bought for her cage to help with her pickiness. Though she didn't break her leg in the accident, she did have nerve damage which led to her need a amputation to one of her back legs.
Andrea at the Forever Feisty Chinchilla has been nothing but a blessing to me; I'm not sure if I could say Nugget would still be alive without her encouraging and helpful responses to all of my panic emails I've written to her about Nugget and her health. From issues on getting Nugget back on track with eating as well as advice on what to do when she's had minor and extreme problems.
As well as the endless amounts of information about chinchillas and their diets and health available at the tips of anyone's fingers, the Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue's website is a haven for healthy snacks and safe toys I know Nugget would enjoy and have no fear in purchasing for her.
Nugget is still working her way back to her normal self and I still believe I'll be contacting Andrea and referring to her website in the future. Her nonprofit is not only helpful for us for already have chinchillas, but would be the perfect website to refer to when people are making the decision on whether or not a Chinchilla is the right pet for them!
When I first contacted Andrea I was at a loss. My Chili was so sick. He kept getting gut upsets even with a bland diet of oxbow pellets and hay. He was constipated and on pharmaceutical medications. Nothing was working. It was all I could do to get him to eat. At a loss I started to google chinchilla rescues, because I thought they would have to have some idea on how to help my baby. I know they get chins in all sorts of conditions and my exotic vet was clueless. I emailed Andrea and within 30 minutes she said can I call you. She spoke with me for an hour and I gave her my story and what was going on with my Chili. She told me to stop the Reglan and I started the winter squash regimen. It took over another week before he was no longer constipated. Andrea stayed in constant contact with me and checked up on his progress and even called me again in the middle of the night to help reassure me that he was okay and to give it time. My chili is doing amazing. I appreciate all of her care and concern she has for our chinnies. Andrea's website is by far the best one I have found when it comes to care and giving accurate information about chinchillas. We will continue to stay in contact with her and I will donate to her as often as I can.
Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue is a first-class nonprofit! I'm very grateful for the deep love, respect, and care that they provide to the chinchillas.
The Founder, Andrea, is incredibly passionate about her work! She is a renowned chinchilla expert and treats the animals like absolute royalty! Not only does each chinchilla have a personal name and birthday, but also each has a personal record of behavioral nuances to ensure proper care.
5-stars for FFCR due to the 24/7 love these animals receive, the spotless/carefully organized facility, and the 110% dedication from the Founder!
I am from Bulgaria, which is around 6,000 miles away and is 7 hours ahead from Connecticut. Wherever you are located, Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue center will be of incredible help for your sick or just not feeling well chin. Thankfully to Andrea's help my chin, Snow, was saved from undesirable faith. I am very gratitude to the timely advises and consultations provided from the rescue center.
Long story short is that my chin was feeling very sick. He was laying around, refusing to eat and drink. It appeared that he has blockage in his intestines, which was causing build up of gases. This is very painful condition for the chin. Eventhough I have hospitalized him for 24 hours in a local veterinary, he didn't seem to get better. Moreover, the vet has prescribed him several drugs that seemed to be not very appropriate. It is very important for your chin to have in front of you a person with experienced and professional opinion. This expertise lacks back home and for this reason I have looked for second opinion.
I have found Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue website and directly contacted it by mail. Andrea came back to my plea in a matter of an hour. She has advised me to stop all the medications prescribed by the local vet. Her advice happen to be the best thing for my chinchilla. She has also provided me with list of what to administer to my chin and in what dosages. Fresh pineapple juice, Simethicone drops and pure pumpkin mash have played very important role for my chin to get well. It is explained on the rescue center's website how to use them.
What I have learned from this unhappy experience for my chinchilla was:
1. Diet is very very important. Focus should be on good hay and pellets
2. In NO instances feed your chin with corn, nuts or fruits with high sugar content.
3. To clean chin's cage once a week
4. To play more often with your chin
If you experience any problems with your chinchilla, I urge you to not hesitate and contact the lovely personnel of this great Rescue center.
I hope that my review and advise will be helpful to your chinchilla in need.
Many thanks again to Andrea and her wonderful Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue center. Good luck with your future chinchilla experiences.
I had the incredible pleasure of visiting the Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue last month. Andrea, the chin guru of this rescue, was thrilled to give me a tour and an in-depth understanding of how she cares for "her chins". And I mean, her chins! She was smiling before she even had the door open, which leads to the rescue, and never stopped until after we had left the rescue, almost 1 1/2 hrs. later. I was introduced to each family (member) and told their story...they all have name plates with accompanying birthdates attached to their home pens. Their pens are quite large with various stages/nooks and hammocks for them to run and hop about. She stopped, spoke to and interacted with each of them, just as she has since they 1st came into her care, and they reciprocated in kind by coming to her with nuzzles, numerous "fly-bys", and vocals. They are all her "babies" she said, regardless of whether they came from an overburdened owner, an unfortunate breeding situation, or just a male/female mixup....she nurses them all back to health with 24/7 in-home care....and, then, continues to care for them after that. Incredible!
The rescue was bright, spotless, organized, and even had a holding/petting/jumping area. It was obvious to me that this rescue is a 24/7 job, but that Andrea absolutely loves her chins and has dedicated herself to them and this rescue (and her online store which supplies chin products.) It's an act of love!
My sister and her husband had Chinchillas for years. They adored their pets and took great care of them. But age, several health issues and a move changed the situation.
Thank heavens for Forever Feisty Chinchilla rescue. In surrendering the three chins, it's a win for every one. My sister has stopped worrying and being upset that she doesn't do all she should. The chinchillas are safe, being well cared for by Andrea and the two senior girls are in the best possible place. I'm happy to have been helpful. And as I love guinea pigs, I have now found a great on line store for all kinds of great stuff for them!
Can't say enough about the way this rescue is focused on the chinchillas first and foremost.
I had a wonderful experience with andrea. She is very knowledgeable about everything chin. She was able to get me in contact with a chin that needed to be adopted in my state. I picked her up on 10/26/16 and I couldn't be happier. Also I love all the items in her storw to spoil lilah may.
Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue is a huge resource to Chinchilla owners, I wish I had found the website years ago. The owner Andrea is a wonderful, compassionate person with a huge heart and love for Chinchillas, she is a wealth of knowledge on an exotic animal that even to this day there is not much out there that is correct for properly caring for a Chinchilla. I fortunately found her rescue while searching the internet in December 2015 trying to find information on caring for a sick Chinchilla since my 9 year old male Chinchilla Chinchee Clover had a chronic ear infection that I was treating under the care of a Vet and he had stopped eating. She responded promptly to my phone call and was of immense help with tons of advice. Due to the ear infection Chinchee developed two abscesses near the ear that I had to have lanced by my Vet. I medicated him with antibiotics and pain meds and hand fed him daily for over 2 months with progress, he started eating on his own again and acting more himself, running in his Chin Spin wheel, begging for attention, etc.... But sadly the infection was just too deep in his ear canal to be cured, and the abscesses kept growing. He took a turn for the worse on February 25th and I didn't feel it right to continue treating him, he was suffering and I just could not allow that any longer, so I had him put to sleep on February 26th. Andrea spent hours on the phone with me over the last couple of months, she was my light when everything was so dark. She gave me hope and actually gave me more time with my beloved Chinchee. She was quick to ship me items I ordered from her store, I just can't say enough good things about Andrea. Thank you Andrea, may God bless you and your rescue. Sherri in Virginia
Hello my name is Bryan C. I am a first time chinchilla parent and my little girls name is Miss Chinchi. I consider myself an animal lover and I have had many furry companions throughout my life. Even with the experience I had with the many different species I didn't know a thing about Chinchillas. I actually helped my sister and brother in law obtain Miss Chinchi, she made Christmas of 2012 very special. My brother In law is a Marine and with that job comes A LOT of moving around. My sister and I lived together for a year and during that time Ms Chinchi and myself fell in love. Due to my sisters lifestyle we decided it would be best for Miss Chinchi to stay with me and she has been my most special friend ever since. So with no knowledge on Chinchillas I knew I had to learn everything I could to make sure my little girl was properly cared for. With a few books and lots of Internet study I learned a lot. Foreverfiestychinchilla.org was one site in which I felt had the most accurate information on the web. Just 6 months ago Miss Chinchi became deathly ill. I had been to three different vets and nobody could tell me what was wrong with her so I took it upon myself to figure out what was wrong with her and Foreverfiestychinchilla.org had all the answers. I followed all the steps which were so brilliantly described on the website and I began to make progress. I sent an email through the website and thats when I met Andrea. Andrea offered her phone number to me a complete stranger and we talked about Ms Chinchies symptoms and how I had been treating her. With the website and Andreas help I was able to save my little girl when the vets had no clue. I finally found a decent vet that performed an abscess surgery and diagnosed Ms Chinchi with Malocclusion which I thought was a death sentence but of course Andrea had all the experience with Malo as well. She reassured me that it is not always a death sentence, she was there for me and answered all my questions through and after surgery. I am so thankful to Andrea, her hard work and extensive knowledge on Chinchillas. Ms Chinchi and I are forever greatful that someone like Andrea has such a passion for these special and sometimes forgotten about little wonderful furry creatures. I highly recommend Forever Fiesty Chinchilla as being one of the best in chinchilla knowledge and care. Thank you Andrea for your service I wish we had more people like her in this world where most people have lost their compassion for life and all of earth's wonders.
WORDS ALONE CANNOT EXPRESS THE DEEP GRATITUDE THAT MY FAMILY HAS FOR ANDREA AND FOREVER FEISTY CHIN RESCUE. WE TURNED TO THE RESCUE FOR HELP AND WE WERE NOT TURNED AWAY. OTHER AGENCY'S WERE NOT ABLE TO HELP AND REQUIRED A HIGH FEE BUT FOREVER FEISTY DID NOT. WE HAD OUR PET CHIN FOR SIX YEARS AND DUE TO MEDICAL REASONS WE WERE NOT ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF LOVE AND CARE ANYMORE. WE WANTED SOMEONE THAT HAD LOVE IN THEIR HEART FOR OUR PET CHIN JIFFY. ANDREA IS OUR ANGEL. SHE IS WARM AND CARING AND WE FEEL SO HAPPY THAT SHE CAME AND PICKED UP JIFFY AND WILL LOVE HIM LIKE WE DID. IF YOU ARE IN NEED LOOK NO FURTHER! FOREVER FEISTY IS A TRUE RESCUE ORGANIZATION.
OMG where do I begin! Over last winter my chin (puss) had babies! This was a surprise to me because I thought I had two males. I was clueless on how to care for baby chins. Andrea was a life saver and guided me through the next several weeks! If it wasn't for Andrea these baby chins didn't have a chance with me. They are now very happy and living a happy chin life. Andrea didn't know me from a whole in the wall and spent many days and nights on the phone with me, helping me care for the babies and of course Mama and Papa chin. The time I will forever be grateful for Andrea was when my Bootz became ill. I was devastated and called Andrea. Once again Andrea was there for me. She and her husband took the 1 1/2 hr trip to my home to try and save my Bootz. Unfortunately he was too sick and didn't make it. She not only comforted me, but took care of all the arrangements for Bootz to be cremated and have his ashes returned to me. I can't begin to express how grateful I am for Andrea and her Rescue Organization. Andrea did all of this because she has a huge heart and loves these furballs! Recently my basement flooded and needs to be fixed. We now have mold, therefore the chins couldn't remain In the finished (now ruined) basement. Due to having a few week old baby in the upper house (house full of baby stuff), I don't have room for the chins. Not only is Andrea currently taking care of my chins until our basement is fixed, she and her husband came and got them for me. Once again all of this on her own precious time. If any organization out there deserves support this would be the one! I wish I could do more! Andrea.....I will forever be grateful. Thank you thank you!
I have two chinchillas that have been happy and healthy for the past year. Then because they are so cute when I would give them a rosehips every nite, I decided to give 3-4. After a few weeks, their poop got really soft and wet. In a panic, I emailed Andrea from Forever Feisty to see what I should do. She was just wonderful and told me exactly what to do to get them back to normal. She was so patient with m never ending emails and so knowledgable about the care of chinchillas.. I also order their toys from her because I know that they are made from safe products and the girls love them. Many thanks to Andrea for her love and care of all the fur babies that she rescues.
Andrea from Forever Feisty Rescued me. Andrea is an amazing individual to give her life to these beautiful creatures. My son rescued two chinchillas. When one died he thought he would get another one to keep company. Well, two turned into fifteen. We were going along OK for about two years thinking we had the males and females separated and then two babies appeared. Not more Chinchillas!! I called Andrea in a panic since she was the chinchilla expert. She was absolutely awesome. Andrea came the same night to my house and spent many hours teaching me how to care for all these feisty chinchillas. The next morning Andrea and Bob came back to our home with a baby chinchilla cage, a bag full of toys, a manger for the babies and a ton of pine shavings. My stress went to Thankfulness. I needed help and my prayers were answered when Andrea came through the door.
I am a new Chinchilla owner. I purchased some items from the website and found all to be beyond expectations. One night I found one of my Chinchillas had broken her leg. I sent a note to the owner and she quickly called me on my cell and advised me what to do. I am happy to report the 3 legged Chin is getting around well. It is rare to find such dedication and help in the world we live in.
