I am an educated young woman going through my first (unplanned) pregnancy. Although my boyfriend & I weren't planning on having a baby just yet, we were excited to find out I was pregnant. I had just started a new job and wasn't going to be insured for 90 days, so I took the suggestion of calling CareNet for their free test and ultrasound, just to confirm that the six home pregnancy tests I took were right. The woman on the phone made me very uncomfortable. I explained right away the situation, and that we were planning on raising our child. She cut me off and told me that since I wasn't far along I'd have time to make a "choice." She mentioned abortion 3 times in a 4 minute phone call, even though I kept saying "but we've made a decision. That isn't an option for us." I also mentioned that I would like my boyfriend to be there with me. She told me he could be there if they deemed it "appropriate." When the call ended I was in tears. I was scared about my first pregnancy but I was excited about being a mom. I didn't need my feelings to be disregarded so blatantly.
