Author Chris Heuretz says, "Sabbath is for rest. Retreats are for reflection. Vacations are for recreation. Sabbatical is for renewal. When we don't honor our rhythms and neglect caring for ourselves, then the luxury of sabbatical ends up being wasted on recovery."

Without the insistence of my husband (who knows my tendencies toward workaholism and false guilt), I would have missed this needed time to retreat, reflect, and rest. The opportunities I had to write, read, Christmas shop, and engage at leisure with other selfless advocates caring for their family members was a gift.

I'm so very grateful for A Mother's Rest--for their vision & passion to serve those who need a break from the hypervigilence (and fatigue) that often comes with the role of caregiving.

The beautiful accommodations, the delicious food, the kind & generous volunteers, the quiet, and the freedom to retreat at will were exactly what I needed to honor my rhythms and prevent recovery.
