Review for SAVE THEM ALL HORSE RESCUE, Elk Grove, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I’d love to nominate Save Them All Horse Rescue for the Top Rated Nonprofit!
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Save Them All Horse Rescue and Vicki Greene!! Over the last 21/2 years I have spent countless hours with Vicki and her horses, and I am constantly amazed at her strength (physical & mental), compassion, and unwavering commitment to provide for and make a difference in all of these horses lives. She is not a fair weather horse rescuer, she exemplifies what it is to be a true horse woman. I’ve dredged through mud up to my knees by her side during torrential rainstorms to get the horses fed, and have scorched myself beside her in 110 degree heat to make sure they are fed, watered and get their dose of love. And Vicki does this, with or without volunteer help, 365 days a year!! And she does it all for the love of saving horses.
And thank you to Vicki and Save Them All Horse Rescue I was able to meet The Great Love of my life, and adopt Steely Wonder!! Steely is an off the track thoroughbred (OTTB) from Golden Gate Fields where he raced as a youngster, and 6 years later found himself in the loving hands of Vicki Greene at her rescue when his last owner could no longer care for him. As fate would have it, I started volunteering at the rescue several months later and began working with this incredible horse. I started riding at the young age of 4 1/2 and I’ve been fortunate to ride and spend time with many many unique and wonderful horses in the last 35 years. Not since my childhood horse have I had such a special deep soulful connection with a horse until this sweet, silly, affectionate, challenging, and powerful 16.1 hh dappled grey thoroughbred named Steely Wonder came into my life at Save Them All Horse Rescue. It was a dream come true when I was able to adopt him in February this year!! I’ll never forget the look on Vicki’s face when I casually brought up that today was the day we’d need to stop by the bank so I could grab Steely’s adoption fee. She asked in almost disbelief, “What? Are you serious?” She’s known for a very longtime how much he means to me, the special connection we have, and how much I’ve wanted to be able to adopt him. I nodded. And all she said was, “Oh my gosh. Wow.” ..And the smile that emerged was one I’ll never forget. I believe it’s the smile of hers that comes from deep within knowing that one of her rescued horses has found his true forever person.
It’s moments like that that I believe add fuel to Vicki’s ongoing & tireless commitment to rescuing & rehabilitating abused, neglected, and unwanted horses. It’s her ability to take in these unwanted discarded souls from all backgrounds, and of all sizes, ages, and breeds, rehabilitate them, and find them their forever home that makes her and her rescue so exceptional. She’s making a huge difference in this world one life at a time which over the years is amounting to many many lives. And for that, Save Them All Horse Rescue is truly the greatest nonprofit!!!

I have been volunteering at Save Them All Horse Rescue for the last few years. The rescue takes in a wide variety of horses in need of help ranging from wild mustang mares & their babies to thoroughbreds that have been discarded from the racing industry. At times horses arrive sick or injured & they are nursed back to health & rehabilitated in order to get a new forever home. Vicki Greene’s passion for helping horses is an inspiration, she & her rescue are saving the lives of many horses that otherwise would have met a terrible fate. Thank you Vicki & Save Them All Horse Rescue for all that you do!!
