Review for Friends Of Montgomery County Animals Inc, Germantown, MD, USA
I adopted a fantastic cat, Bandit, from FMCA in 1997. My best friend adopted her cat from them the next year. In 2008, after Bandit passed away, I adopted another wonderful cat from FMCA. They do a terrific job of getting the cats into foster homes and really know them before they adopt them out. They tell you about the personality and how they interact with other animals. Their application process and fees are very reasonable. Since adoptions increase when the cats are seen, they regularly have some on display at PetSmart. While they are there, volunteers come in to feed, care for, and play with them so they stay friendly and socialized. To keep the cats happy, they also limit the time that cats spend there. Everyone I've dealt with has been terrific and many of the volunteers have been with FMCA for over 20 years. In the late 2000s I started volunteering with them too. I served on the committee for an event and more recently I've served as a substitute cleaner for the cats housed at PetSmart. It's a terrific group that does great work for the cats in our area and an excellent job at finding them purrrfect forever homes!
Review for SixDegrees.Org, Fairfax, VA, USA
I've been to several of the SixDegrees.org pop-ups in the DC area. They are always fun, energetic and well run! The looks on people's faces when the band comes out is priceless and they raise awareness for so many important causes! They also do a great job at using social media to maximize exposure of each event. They really help increase visibility of these small, local charities!
