Review for Fundamaya, San Diego, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Fundamaya is an impressive organisation, the staff, management & volunteers are very dedicated. They really do care about the work they do. Most of the staff are indigenous, which is commendable. The programs they run are much needed, they have made a huge difference in the quality of life for many indigenous communities. I especially love the education program that empowers children, giving them an opportunity to go to school. This makes a huge difference in their future prospects. I highly recommend this worthy organisation.

Review for Natün Guatemala (formerly Mayan Families), Laguna Beach, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I loved working with Mayan Families, it's a wonderful grassroot oganisation, that does not have a big bureaucracy. I felt confident that the donations reached it's intended person or project. Most of the staff are indigenous, and were welcoming + helpful.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have seen the distribution of water filters and donations. I have also attended sewing graduation classes. Their spay and neuter program for street dogs has had a dramatic affect on the number of dogs on the street.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

make sure they have plenty of funding for all their visionary programs.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing what a difference Mayan Families has made in so many people's lives.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly, hard working and wonderful to get to know.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

transform the lives of mayan people in the highlands, by providing opportunities for education + employment and general self empowerment.

Ways to make it better...

there were more resources such as vehicles and office space to work with.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

to find consistent funding from large organizations.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I feel very lucky to have had this opportunity to experience life here in guatemala and to have done it with this great organization, Mayan Families.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
