I found Hand in Hand Parenting when my son was born, and my daughter was two years old. I was struggling to be the parent I'd hoped to be, and was getting triggered and losing it with sleep deprivation, lack of family support and unrealistic expectations on myself. I didn't like the parent or person I was becoming and it was a shock. I met a mom in a local playground who told me about Hand in Hand Parenting. I was too stressed at the time to make the regular Support group she was a part of, but I did become a regular 'Listening Partner' with this Mom and it turned my life around for the better, and continues to. I went on to learn all 5 of the Hand in Hand Listening tools, starting using them daily in my family, and went on to do their year-long parent training programme, it transformed the hardest times and made them times of hope, laughter, love and connection. The tools I have learnt at Hand in Hand have made an intergenerational intervention in family patterns that needed some changing. You can't ask for more than that from an organisation! Changing the future and as they say, 'changing the world, one parent at a time'. They deserve the highest accolades for the work they do on a shoe-string budget.
