Review for Hand in Hand Parenting, San Francisco, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I was lost raising my kids until I found Hand in Hand Parenting! I "knew" what parent I wanted to be, and I just couldn't get there. Hand in Hand's empathetic approach was the missing link because it isn't just quick tips and hacks, rather it is an immersive approach that felt as caring and as helpful for my needs as a parent, as it is for my children. It made me see how I was parented affects the way I parent (and how to learn new ways if I want to), and how to understand children's emotions and what they go through in their toughest moments, that allowed me to respond in a nurturing way. I learned that I could listen to my child's feelings while setting limits. That I felt less manipulated and more in control. And that I felt supported every step of the way.

And then I discovered that the non-profit works with families from all walks of life, that its approach is effective and nurturing with families living in tough and extreme conditions. That is funds programs in Indian Slums and American jails. That instructors teaching the approach are not just parents, but counselors, doctors, and therapists working with kids after trauma. The work that Hand in Hand's founder, Patty Wipfler, has evolved over the last few decades is so inspirational.
