Review for Jakes Diapers Inc, Kaukauna, WI, USA
I am writing on behalf of the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona. We are always looking for ways to, not only meet diaper need in our community, but to REDUCE diaper need. Last year, we began exploring the idea of offering a cloth diaper option to interested families. We had conversations with the University of Arizona's Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology (BARA) about conducting research on cloth diaper use, and wondered about getting the supplies necessary to begin in earnest. At a National Diaper Bank Network conference, we met Stephanie Bowers from Jake's Diapers. She heard about our vision, and immediately offered to help us with our project by donating 30 cloth diaper kits! This made it possible to get our project off the ground. With additional support from Jake's Diapers and other local donors, our project is in full swing. As it happens, most of the families who responded to our offer are refugees or recent immigrants. We have heard many stories about how this has been such a life-changing gift for these families as they struggle to become self-sufficient in their new country. Simply having a CHOICE about how to diaper their babies provides cultural continuity, confidence, reduces family stress, and saves a lot of money that can be used for other necessities. Thank you, Jake's Diapers, for sharing our vision, as we work together to make sure that no child goes without a clean, dry diaper!
