Review for The Library Project, Phoenix, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I first had the privilege of meeting Tom Stader (Founder and Executive Director of the Library Project) 8 years ago, after his presentation at a TEDxCanton event that was held in Guangzhou, China. When I initially learned about the mission and vision of his organization, I immediately knew that I wanted to help by joining The Library Project's efforts in any way I possibly could. Tom's clear dedication to supporting and encouraging women leaders in this organization has really impressed me over the years, especially since I believe that empowering girls and women to lead is essential in today's world full of complex challenges. While meeting some of The Library Project's full time staff in Shanghai a few years back, I could tell they all shared a tangible sense of being part of a strong team, fully focused on solving difficult and yet critically important problems. Through such a simple and yet elegant solution (donations of books and library equipment), The Library Project has been changing children's lives by getting them more excited about learning to read and encouraging them to become more involved in a lifelong habit of reading. And by providing much-needed training and literacy-related resources for school staff that are often located in very remote areas, The Library Project has also been creating new possibilities for countless children, many of whom might have gone overlooked otherwise.

Thankfully, I was able to rally some friends of mine together in Nanjing to organize a "Nanjing Foodies" charity dinner in support of the Library Project several years ago, and I have been a monthly donor to the organization for quite some time. Tom even agreed to present at the TEDxYouth event I organized in Nanjing all the way back in 2012. And more recently, I was thrilled to accept an offer to join the Board of the Library Project this summer (2018). I'm looking forward to continuing to build up support for this truly outstanding organization, which has already celebrated fantastic successes in China, Vietnam, and the surrounding areas, and which has exciting potential to expand into even more countries in the years to come. Thanks for everything so far Tom and TLP team- I can't wait to see what the next few years will bring :-)
