Review for The Time Is Now to Help, Lake Geneva, WI, USA
I cannot put into words how grateful I am from the help I received from Sal w The Time Is Now to Help. I had no idea that a co-worker- friend (another Saint ) wrote a letter to Sal, on my behalf because she knew that I was struggling & stressing about losing my home that I worked so hard for. I just watched the video Sal made about why he choose to make helping people his mission & it again brought tears to my eyes, because my story is the same as his mothers, I raised my 3 children on my own with no child support ever. When I left my husband, my youngest son was two years old & my daughters were 5 & 6 years old. A friend picked us up from the home we were in, she came in a van & myself, my 3 children & whatever cloths we could fit into the van & she took us into her home which was 3 states away & she had 4 children of her own. I had no vehicle & I walked a mile to work everyday @ Subway until I saved enough money to buy a used car. I then saved enough money to get my 1st apartment. I worked at fast food places & was barely able to pay rent & bills, but, somehow, God-willing, I stretched every penny & we got by. Fast-forward to today, I now have the best job I have ever had, I manage low-income housing apartments, which at the time I left my husband, I never even knew there was any such thing as low income apartments/housing so I always paid full rent sometimes only making $8. an hour. So, I very much understand how it is to struggle & my job allows me to help so many people with affordable housing & guiding them in the right direction to receive services that they may benefit from. Even though I have a good job, I still live paycheck to paycheck & my vehicle broke down, the motor went out I needed a new car to get to work, I still owed money on that vehicle. My brothers friend had a van that he agreed to sell me. Meanwhile, The stress of everything, falling behind on the mortgage, trying to do a loan modification on the house & it was denied a couple times, everything spiraled out of control. Sal helped me pay the remainder of what I owed my brothers friend for the van & then he paid for the van to be looked at & fixed to where it was safe & reliable. He helped me with paying my utility bill & gave me gas cards. I was & still am in shock that I received this help from a complete stranger. I am beyond humbled & more grateful than any words can say. I thank God always for each & every blessing & Sal is certainly on the top of the list.
