I adopted an injured, unreleasable feral pigeon in 2016 through my work at a veterinary hospital that also does wild bird rehab. Until then, I never really thought about pigeons as pets, although I did appreciate them. While doing tons of research on how to properly care for my poor Fergus, I came across Palomacy. Now, I'm not located anywhere near Palomacy (opposite side of the country, in fact), but their extensive website and resources were invaluable to me! Not only is Fergus healthy and happily married to another rescue, but Palomacy inspired me to do some of my own small-scale rescue work with these AMAZING creatures. I now have 3 rescues that are my own, and last year I fostered and homed 3 others. If not for the wonderful work of this organization, I probably wouldn't have been able to save these 6 (with a 7th just arrived tonight). There needs to be a Palomacy in every state!! Pigeons are so overlooked and underestimated, when in reality, they're some of God's most incredible creations. Go Palomacy!!
