SEGD has my vote for a superb non-profit organization. I am nearing the end of raising my first pup for SEGD and it's been such a wonderful experience. As a first time raiser (who didn't know much about raising pups), SEGD provided lots and lots of support! Everything from answering questions, having meetings with all of the local raisers to address issues, making home visits and providing puppy-sitters when I was traveling or just needed a break! The fact that the school provides these service dogs to those that need them, free of charge, is most impressive. The work that goes into each pup is immense...but the end result is overwhelming. To see pups matched to their new handlers is wonderful, and when it comes time watch my pup with her new handler, I know that I will be so proud for having played a small role in changing someone's life! How cool is that! Working with these dogs and the feelings that come with doing this work, is what helps me sleep at night.

My first pup will go IFT (in for training) in July. I started my next pup early, so that pup#1 can help to teach pup#2 what appropriate behavior looks like! See photo below!
