Review for Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc., Palmetto, FL, USA
Our family has raised 15 puppies for Southeastern Guide Dogs and we are raising the 16th pup now. I can't even imagine not being a part of puppy raising. This has been a highly satisfying venture with an outstanding organization. We of course love the puppies, but the people we have come in contact with are like minded giving people. The staff and volunteers truly love the cause and it shines through.
Our son started us with puppy raising when he was 16 years old, we were so excited when our first puppy became a guide dog after living with us for about one year, and training at Southeastern for over 7 mos. Pepper worked about 6 years and when it was time for him to retire, our son was in a position to adopt him as a retired guide. Pepper lived out the rest of his life in Nashville where he was a Therapy Dog, expert hiker and a loved family member.
Pictured here is Harley, our 15th puppy. He is currently in for training at Southeastern Guide Dogs and we have high hopes he will attain a job perfect for his skill level.
