Review for She Believes In Me, Herndon, VA, USA
I cannot say enough about this wonderful organization! I have worked as a volunteer since SHE BELIEVES IN ME first started holding events at Hutchison ES to empower young girls at Hutchison ES. The girls, and some boys just loved these events...health care, body imaging, exercise classes, nutrition advice and mentoring are just some of the few things that SBIM offered. The kids just loved coming and loved the extra attention. Then Covid hit. Schools closed. But, did that stop SBIM from caring...NO! They quickly changed and starting delivering food to the most needy familes. They also established a liaison mentoring program so that someone had "eyes on" the children as they were confined to their homes. SBIM never stopped caring about the kiddos and their families. SBIM has made a huge impact on the community and brought smiles to many young faces. I am honored to be part of an organization that is so caring of others.
Review for Helping Children Worldwide, Chantilly, VA, USA
Helping Children Worldwide really does make a difference in the lives of people who live in one of the poorest countries of the world. Why can I make this claim? Because I know a young man who was brought in off the streets as a young child by HCW, educated, then hired as the Director of Rescue Center (who rescued HIM off the streets), and now is in the USA as an employee of HCW, continuing the work of helping the most vulnerable. Oh, and he is our son-in-law!!
Review for Helping Children Worldwide, Chantilly, VA, USA
I first got involved with Helping Children Worldwide (HCW) in December of 2010. That is when, my then 18 year old daughter, asked me to go on a mission trip to Bo, Sierra Leone. (How can a mother refuse when a teenager asks to do something which helps others in one of the poorest countries in the world?). We went to teach Vacation Bible School to about 40 children who were living at the Child Rescue Center (CRC). Some of these children were orphans from the Civil War, and some had been children that were "rescued" from horrible life situations. This trip changed our family's lives.
HCW supports not only the CRC, but also Mercy Hospital. Mercy Hospital treats anyone, regardless of their ability to pay. The staff at HCW works tirelessly to provide the best for those they support in Bo. The organization is transparent, and one can be assured that every dollar that is donated or raised for HCW is used for transforming lives in Sierra Leone.
Fast forward 7 1/2 years. My daughter is now employed by HCW, and has been living and working in Bo, Sierra Leone...a journey that started with that December, 2010 mission trip. If you want to make a difference in lives in a place such as Bo Sierra Leone, be assured that by getting involved with or donating to HCW, you WILL make that difference!
