Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads is an outstanding organization that provides hope, opportunity, and support to many students. As an intern, I had the amazing opportunity to work alongside a passion-filled site coordinator and witness first hand the influence this organization has on schools, students, and the community. Mrs. Mathis-Spellman is committed to the students and works tirelessly to meet the needs of the students, school, and community. Her presence has had a positive effect on behavior, attendance, and the overall rapport between parents and the school. The students light up every time that they see her and enjoy working with her. This opportunity has opened my eyes to the various barriers that students face, and made me grateful to be a part of the solution. Supporting this organization is investing in a student’s success and future!
