I have belonged for many years and the one thing you first and always notice is how welcoming and accepting all the members are to new and long-time members. There is no pressure to volunteer, and yet they love to have any help in whatever area you would like. They encourage everyone to come enjoy the amazing talks at every month's meeting and go on bird walks with the helpful leaders who can lend you binoculars and teach you how to use them. You can go to a meeting, socialize, and there is no pressure to join until you are ready.
