As a primarily volunteer run organization, Eastside Audubon is filled with passionate community organizers, advocates, educators, and conservationists all dedicated to the protection of birds and the natural spaces they need to survive. Their long-time commitment to habitat restoration projects, dedication to youth education and outreach, and advocacy work on behalf of birds and wildlife in east King County is commendable.
I have been a member of Eastside Audubon for 10+ years, and actively involved for the past 4 years. I’ve learned so much about birds and their place in the natural world since joining, and am much better informed about conservation and climate change issues. I have met a lot of great, knowledgeable, concerned people through the organization who share my passion for the outdoors, and making planet Earth a better place for all creatures. There are a variety of rewarding volunteer opportunities available at Eastside Audubon, something for everyone!
Eastside Audubon is great to volunteer for. They care deeply for the survival of birds and their habitats and are aware that with the conservation of habitat for birds comes habitat for all wildlife.
I love working with Eastside Audubon at Marymoor park removing invasive species and planting native ones. The people are great and I least have fun, it doesn’t even seem like work.
I joined Eastside Audubon in 2003 and have enjoyed all my time either volunteering with them, participating in field trips or going to Programs to learn about wildlife. The people are friendly and inviting and love to share their knowledge about birds and their environs.
I have belonged for many years and the one thing you first and always notice is how welcoming and accepting all the members are to new and long-time members. There is no pressure to volunteer, and yet they love to have any help in whatever area you would like. They encourage everyone to come enjoy the amazing talks at every month's meeting and go on bird walks with the helpful leaders who can lend you binoculars and teach you how to use them. You can go to a meeting, socialize, and there is no pressure to join until you are ready. I have been a member of Eastside Audubon for 14+ years and of the Youth Education Committee for almost as many years. This is an organization whose members truly care about the environment and are willing to devote their time and talent to making the world a better place. I have learned a great deal about birds, giving back to the community and becoming a steward of the earth. Amazing organization and amazing members! Join us.
I was a novice bird watcher when I first joined Eastside Audubon. Their leaders are very knowledgeable and caring, and their classes have taught me so much about how to identify birds and their songs.
I knew nothing when I started watching birds, but it did not take long to learn what I needed to to get out there and know what I was seeing. Eastside Audubon is very concerned with what is going on in the world with a special focus locally to sustain our wild areas and keep the birds singing and with it other wildlife.
