I have been volunteering with EAST going on my 3rd year . I never thought I would be where I’m at today struggling with depression and anxiety Kim opened her doors and her heart to me and I have never felt more at home then I do when I’m at EAST . Volunteering here I have learned so much from animal care , behavior, falling in love with these beautiful creatures meeting new people and making new friends . This place is the best thing that has happened to me !

My name is Ashley and I've been volunteering at EAST (Exotic Avian Sanctuary of Tennessee) going on two years.

I have always loved animals. I came across EAST when I was looking for volunteering opportunities. I've always had a passion for birds (I was helping a friend do retirement home visits with her cockatoo) and this was right up my alley. I contact Kim and I've been volunteering ever since. EAST holds a special place in my life. Dealing with depression and anxiety, Kim has provided a place where not only parrots are taken care of but a place that you feel like you are making a difference. I have become very attached to the birds that we have under our care and it is bitter-sweet to see them go but seeing them thrive in an environment that suits them...words cannot describe. Kim has dedicated her life to provide a place for these special creatures and I'm so glad to be a part of it.
