Review for Mastiff Rescue of Florida, Stuart, FL, USA

Rating: 1 stars

Would rate this organization less if possible. We fostered a mastiff mix for them and fell in love and decided to adopt. He weighed 86 pounds at the time we got him and his medical records read that he has a puncture wound in his back leg consistent with a gunshot wound. He has heartworms which the rescue is required by contract to continue to treat but also has had a growth on his from leg since we got him that we were told was nothing and not to worry about. 4 months later it is still there and grows larger all the time. He was doing well, but when i brought a dog in the house who was wondering the neighborhood he showed some signs of aggression. We immediately had the trainer come out to our house and work with him. We communicated this with one of the folks who runs the rescue as we were looking to adopt a puppy from them. We were approved for the puppy adoption and got our pick that we wanted. We brought the puppy home and our adopted mix did not like him at all. We reached out to the rescue for advice and guidance, instead we got ridicule and accusations and a demand to return the puppy. We were told that because we previously had another dog, who we had adopted from a shelter and was badly abused, that had to be put down for aggression even after investing thousands of dollars into training and the new adopted mix was showing signs of aggression with the new puppy that we were bad parents and that it was all our fault. They eventually agreed to work with us and said that they would allow us to keep the puppy prettt much on a trial basis as long as we met a very long list of very ridiculous demands including having to spay a female mastiff that has nothing to do with the rescue within 2 weeks. Our vet has a month long wait to schedule. Please look for somewhere else to adopt from, maybe look at southern states mastiff rescue
