I have been honored to be a special needs and oldie but goodie foster fail with MRF since 2016. Moose, Penny, Athena, Mr. Wilson, Kali, Moose2, and Bodhi have all made my house a home. Athena is the only one not over rainbow bridge. To say MRF has been with me every step of the way in caring for these gentle giants is an understatement. The supplies, the vets, the middle of the night advice, the support and the shared love is second to none. MRF cares t these furbabies but they also care for us fosters. We know we're never alone.

I have been involved with Mastiff Rescue since 2017 after my own Mastiff passed away. After house checks home checks vet checks I was entrusted with Moose. As a new volunteer and foster Pam and the board along with other volunteers were amazing with any anxieties or questions I may have had. After Moose came Penny. Then came Athena. Then Mr. Wilson. Then Kali and her brother, Moose2. Then Bodhi. I've become known as a special needs and Oldies but Goodies Foster. Anything I need any question I have any support I need MRF is there. Moose, Penny, Mr Wilson, and Moose2 have all crossed the Rainbow Bridge. MRF was there for support and love for each one. Now my house is a home because I've been entrusted with Athena, who is a reactive dog from a very abusive situation, Kali, who is an oldie but goodie and Bodhi who was born blind. I am a foster failure they say but I think I am a foster winner. I couldn't do it without Mastiff Rescue and their tireless never-ending support.

3 years ago we lost our beloved boy Brutus. Our beautiful girl Dakota was feeling very sad. I turned to MRF in the hopes of finding another special boy we could love and cherish and they helped us fin Odin. He has been the most amazing, kind, sweet and loving boy and we are so blessed he belongs to us. Today is his 8th Birthday! Happy Birthday Odin, we love you so much! Thank you MRF for all that you do to save these precious fur babies and give them loving forever homes. ❤️

An English Mastiff was brought to me starved, full of fleas, heartworm positive and a hige mammary tumor. Mastiff Rescue of Florida took her in and took weeks to get her healthy enough for surgery. Fortunately, the tumor was benign. She was also spayed and treated for heartworms. Months latershr is living the life she should have had from the start, thanks toMRF!

MRF is the best rescue ever. I have had the pleasure of helping a man who thought he had to give up his dog. He was disabled and could no longer get her in the car for vet visits and couldn't afford her care.. Mastiff Rescue of Florida stepped up and took care of food, getting a vet to his house, etc. This dog and owner were meant to be together. It wasn't the easy and, but it was the best way. When the dog passed away, we had someone come and get her and return her ashes back home. It meant the world to him and to us. I have two of their rescues, one an oldie but goodie. They are amazing a Pam is a genius at matching dogs and homes. I could go on and on. But group of humans ever!

We have been involved with MRF since 2011. We have fostered, adopted and volunteered in other ways to help the rescue. This rescue goes above and beyond for the dogs and the fosters/adopters and families surrendering their mastiffs. They also offer help for people going through difficult times and try to help them keep their dogs. Our mastiff Max was adopted through MRF and lived until he was 13. He was an amazing addition to our family

I have been part of Mastiff Rescue of Florida as both an adopter and volunteer. This is an organization that truly exemplifies the best of charity, love and community to animals , humans and rescue. Operated and managed by volunteers, Mastiff Rescue of Florida saves dogs , provides care and matches these gentle giants with the perfect families to help them recover and thrive after what is often a life of neglect, abuse and abandonment . This organization maintains an established network of support and guidance to help pet owners learn about life with a mastiff, proper nutrition and breed specific veterinary care . Most importantly, Mastiff Rescue of Florida represents an organization that is committed to being the safety net for these magnificent giants that have often been failed by humans and have no future without rescue. There is no greater love and connection than what you receive from a rescued mastiff. I cannot thank Mastiff Rescue of Florida for bringing Honeybear into my life.

MRF is truly one of the most selfless organizations I've ever worked with. They will do everything within their power to make sure no animal goes without the care, love and kindness they deserve. I am so thankful for all of the opportunities I've had to transport such wonderful and needy animals to their new and safe homes. So many souls saved, and lives changed as they learn to trust again. This rescue simply changes the whole world for each and every pet they care for. Whether it takes two years or two days they are invested in improving each animals outlook on the world. I am so thankful for all the pets that I've met and engaged with. They have touched my heart in such deep and profound ways.

I have been a fan and follower of The Mastiff Rescue of Florida for years, but just sent in an application to foster last summer. The experience has been incredible. The MRF leads take the time to really get to know the applicants and ensure the safety and success of these gentle giants by properly matching them with volunteers. Each dog is vetted and provided the necessary materials, training and support. The staff and the other volunteers really take a vested interest in the success of each and every Mastiff. It’s an incredible organization.

As a volunteer I had the opportunity to foster a young female mastiff that we named Vega. We named her that because Vega is the brightest star in the northern constellation of Lyra. We thought it was appropriate given her circumstances. Shortly after we got her we learned that she was expecting. We whelped 6 puppies and named them Vega’s AllStars. The good folks at MRF were with us every step of the way guiding us on the process. As the foster we visited the prospective adopters and determined they would be a good fit for Vega. The folks at MRF are simply the best!

After we lost our Costa Rica rescue Lucky Girl, our 4 year old Rottweiler was lonely and we began the search for another rescue. While searching Facebook I ran across a post by Mastiff Rescue Florida about a pup named Rocky that they had just rescued who had a bad leg from being contained most of his young life in a kennel that was too small. At that point I decided to fill out an application to adopt. One of the directors called and we chatted for a while and then set things into motion. Next thing I know, I get a call about a possible owner surrender of a large unaltered male who has become aggressive with other dogs in household. I agreed to take him in and see if we could rehabilitate him. MRF got him neutered and he has been with me ever since. He is the ultimate gentleman. Does not have an aggressive bone in his body. Loves everyone. Mastiff Rescue Florida is ALL about the animals! Best rescue ever

I joined MRF in February of 2023. In April of 2023 I fostered Jazz (now known as Josie) and come June of 2023 we officially adopted her. We couldn’t be happier including our 3 other dogs are so happy she is a part of household. MRF truly cares about these dogs and truly wants what is good for them. They stay in touch even after adoption and they are so helpful with any advice. MRF is an amazing organization and they are angels to these mastiffs!

I started fostering Kaia a 6 years old EM three months ago. She came to me with some challenges, emotionally, physically, and medically. With some dietary changes and TLC, she is gracefully emerging out of her shell. Although she isn't a fan of sharing with my daughter's pack, (toys, people, space) she tolerates them for the most part. However, people are a different story all together. She is the sweetest, most loyal, loving, obedient, chill companion I have ever had the pleasure of sharing my time with.
All fosters get the opportunity to adopt or get them ready for a future forever home. I have a special needs adult son I care for and I had to consider if I had it in me to adopt this special girl. I have to say, I cannot imagine letting her go! She seems to love the space I have provided for her and we both look forward to nightly cuddles! So I have started the adoption process! I love Kaia and she has already fit into the family perfectly!
I cannot express how much MRF has helped me to add so much happiness to my life. I will forever be a proud MRF volunteer, foster, and now adopter!

Pam and her team make the difference when these gentle giants are abandoned abused and fall on hard times. Stella our rescue foster-fail was dumped from a van in the rain. MRF treated her for heart worms as well as spay. She was a lucky one so many come in with so much worse. They have also helped us with dietary needs to make all our animals thrive. I’m not sure who rescued who. Please help MRF to continue to succeed in caring for these gentle giants it’s all volunteer. All your money goes to the mastiffs

I have had the pleasure of being a special needs foster and volunteer for MRF since 2017. They have entrusted me with six of these gentle Giants and now living with me is Bodhi and Athena. Bodhi is blind and watching him navigate life is heartwarming. He just needs a little patience and understanding and a brief explanation of what's expected and LOTS of love and he is a happy little/BIG boy. My sweet Athena came from a domestic abuse situation where she was herself was abused and it's giving her many anxiety and emotional issues but she's a warrior. She is amazing-just a little reassurance and praise goes a long way with her. She is my spirit animal. I don't know what I would do without them or the love and support that I get from MRF whenever I have a question or need commiseration or just anything for these furbabies. MRF gives these sweet souls the lives they deserve. The volunteers are phenomenal and the fosters are out of this world

We found MRF shortly after our bullmastiff passed away. I was just “curious” to see if I can find a Mastiff rescue when I came across the MRF Website. We spotted Alice on the website. I found myself constantly looking at the site until we decided to fill out the application! MRF was so thorough and caring! We drove to Alice’s foster family to finally meet her! The family which I know consider our friends were amazing! We took Alice to our home and she quickly became part of our family! The rescue checked in to answer any questions we had. The volunteers are amazing, caring and knowledgeable! They work around the clock to give these gentle giants new lives! We couldn’t be happier!

Patty, Pam, and Prisella have been so unbelievably helpful! We received our fosters, Brazen (5 years) on Father's day and we just received Duke (8 years) on July 4th.
What gifts! I can't tell you how grateful we are to have them in our lives.
Thank you all so much!

I reached out to Mastiff Rescue Of Florida back in 2018... When our EM passed away and wanted to donate items we had!! WELL FAST FORWARD to today and I have been working with Mastiff Rescue of Florida and opened our doors to fostering for them and also ended up with a puppy (WHO IS STILL HERE) MRF is top notch and being foster based.... It is all about the dog!!! MRF TAKES EXCEPTIONAL CARE OF THE DOGS that they take in and on the average a Mastiff should only last 8-9 yrs, WELL LET ME TELL you they have them going until 12,13 and 15years!!! They are a testament to the love of the breed for sure!!! But unfortunately the economy /covid has really hit them hard!!! The dogs are coming in record numbers and the Vets, medications, foods keep rising!! Every little bit helps!!

I have run Mastiff Rescue of Florida for many years .. It is not me that makes us so successful in saving so many English Mastiffs. It is the volunteers that are the lifelines that say where and when.
I personally have had 21 here at the house.. I am now down to 10. I take the special needs and some of the Oldie but Goodies.. no crates they all get along and thrive. We help so many sometimes through Hand to Paw, Oldies but Goodies and finding the foster.. MRF is a family and a Team. Pam Boswell

I started to follow MRF about 4 years ago. I enjoyed reading the stories of each mastiff they came in contact with. Their success and dedication to the mastiff is commendable. They worked to educate anyone who is interested or has knowledge of the breed.
I had two mastiffs and recently lost my baby girl Rose unexpectedly. She left a void in my life. I was looking through MRF available pups and came across Macy Leigh. Macy was very much loved and had been a MRF placement before. I was given the opportunity to foster then adopt her. I couldn't be more pleased with this group of people and the way they care for each and everyone of these mastiffs that cross their paths. Because of all the efforts I have read about and now personally have wittnessed. I have offered to volunteer is anyway I can.

We found Mastiff Rescue of Florida after losing the sweetest mastiff to cancer. We just knew we had to find another one someday. The people were all so kind and helped match us with the perfect pup for our family. Gabby came home to us in Sept 2022 and we have been in love ever since! The rescue is always available to offer advice and answer questions. It has been an amazing experience and we recommend them to every single person that asks about our amazing dog. We took in a neighbor’s Mastiff, Bear, when he needed to go into an assisted living home. My husband loved Bear and they went everywhere together. Unfortunately, Bear was diagnosed with cancer and only lived with us a few months. The loss of Bear destroyed my husband. Looking for a way to support other Mastiffs needing homes, I discovered MRF. The stories of Mastiffs that had been rescued and the ones still needing homes tugged at our hearts. Not knowing how we would be able to help, we joined MRF. About the same time, an owner needed to surrender his two Mastiffs. He no longer had the means to support them. This is when Kaya Grace entered our lives.

Where do I start? We’ve had Kaya Grace for the past 6 months and officially adopted her early on. This girl has changed our lives. The love we have for her is impossible to describe. Kaya Grace has some trust issues. She cowers if she is stressed in a situation and she is always on guard. She is very cautious with food and will often need a ton of encouragement to eat. But she does trust us. She is thriving with us. We can’t imagine life without her.

Bear brought us to MRF. Because of the work MRF does, Kaya Grace was brought to us. We will never be the same. These dogs, these “gentle giants,” need MRF. If they wouldn’t have stepped in, if they wouldn’t have supported us as we welcomed Kaya into our home, we know Kaya Grace would have been in a much different place. Kaya Grace and other Mastiffs like her need MRF. We are so thankful they are here!

I always pray MRF gets all the help they need to continue this program and all the other programs they have, they truly deserve the moon and more.
Abbie is one of those dogs and she is a gentle soul and sweetheart. My two smaller rescue dogs think she is their Mom and she is so good to them.

They try their best to help people keep their beloved pets if possible by helping them with food and vet care and if they still can’t they take them in and provide foster can until they can find homes in the group for them. They always go that extra step for the dogs and then more.

MRF arranged for Ellie to be brought to me after my last best friend passed with cancer. When Ellie arrived, I received a terrified, shaking, 115 pound of mush. She was originally born in a puppy mill, sold in a pet store to owners who did not socialize her at all. The owners released her when they could no longer “handle” her. MRF saw a diamond in the rough or should I say dust? Ellie and I have been together for 3 months. She is a forever dog. She will not be passed on because she is a lot of work. Any dog or anything worth having is worth working for. Ellie and I are a “work in progress”. I can guarantee because MRF cares so much about the dogs they take in and place, God willing, Ellie and I will have a long life and close relationship. Thanks Pam for helping rescue Ellie.

I am an adopter, volunteer and a special needs foster. I found the Mastiff rescue when my beloved Baron crossed the Rainbow Bridge several years ago. This rescue is amazing! Their love, compassion, generosity, loyalty, and knowledge about this breed is an inspiration.
This Mastiff rescue and these Gentle Giants goes further than anyone can imagine. This organization has a lot volunteers who care and will do almost anything to help these English Mastiff find homes, transportation, vet care, and anything else necessary needed. Since I became involved with the Mastiff Rescue, I have learned so much from everyone. I am blessed and honored to call them my educators, teachers and friends.

I got my first rescue with Mastiff Rescue of Florida after our beloved mastiff Harley crossed the rainbow bridge. So I found MRF, contacted Pam and applied to be a foster. His name was Duke Henry. He was an older fella who was found running the streets of Ft. Myers. Don’t know how someone wouldn’t claim their older dog…anyway, Duke was the sweetest, well-behaved boy. Animal Services gave him an evaluation and found he had tumors in his colon. Pam paid for the tumor removal surgery and everything needed for his recovery. Duke passed away after six months, broke our hearts but we were so happy to have given him love near the end of his life. A month later, a 6-month-old puppy was rescued and needed a home. I contacted Pam and hoped we could foster him. Max Ernesto came into our home, and we have never been happier since we adopted him. MRF gives dogs and people another chance at love. This is the best, most caring rescue ever!! We love MRF and the great work they do!!!!

My name is Lynn Abbott, and I have fostered two of the best dogs from Mastiff Rescue of Florida. Duke Henry was a Golden Oldie and our first English Mastiff foster, who was found wandering the streets of Ft. Myers. Can you imagine that? He was a sweet, sweet boy who loved walks and treats. We were lucky enough to foster Duke for six months before he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. MRF made sure he had all the medications and professional care needed to give him the best quality of life for as long as he could hold on. I feel honored to have loved Duke Henry, and he’ll always be in my heart. Thank you, MRF!

Not long after Duke crossed the Rainbow bridge did I see a post for an English Mastiff puppy named Max Ernesto from Miami who needed a home. Seems that the puppy’s family kept him outside in the heat on a concrete patio because the poor boy shed too much. The family’s gardener saw the sad conditions, asked the family if he could take the puppy, and immediately contacted Mastiff Rescue of Florida for help. I saw that MRF posted his story on Facebook, and the rest is history. We drove across Florida to pick up Max, and our life has never been brighter and fun with our big ball of goofy energy. Maybe you can guess why his nickname is Gun Powder. Max loves anything squeaky and shiny and loves to play fetch. We have him in training, and he can look, sit, stay, give paw, lay down, and walks well on a leash. He’s on his way to becoming a well behaved puppy with lots of work and loving guidance. MRF keeps in touch regarding Max’s progress. It takes a village to look out for the beautiful animals and work to place them in loving home and Pam, Priscilla, and all of the volunteers are the true heroes. Thank you, MRF!!!

I have fostered multiple dogs for Mastiff Rescue of Florida. Three are foster fails (adoptions). Mastiff Rescue of Florida is an awesome group to work with. They manage every dollar donated to save these gentle giants. MRF is foster based and operates entirely on donations. Every dollar counts and helps. If you can donate even a small amount, you will be helping a dog in need. MRF Hand to Paw program is designed to help keep dogs in their homes, provides medical services, and provides supplements, heartworm medicine and flea prevention. The fosters provide love, care, and lots of good food. With the economy being what it is, many have had to surrender their beloved fur babies. Any donations are welcome and greatly appreciated.

Mastiff Rescue of Florida is one of the best rescues in Florida. We have volunteers all over the State. They have a Hand to Paw program that helps owners going through a rough patch to feed and give veterinary care to their dogs so they can keep them and don't have to give them up. They also have an oldies but goodies program that pays for food and vet care for aged English Mastiffs that have been given up. They do transport to get dogs out of horrible situations. They also perform home evaluations before anyone can adopt a Mastiff. They really go above and beyond for the dogs.

I have volunteered for various rescues and I can honestly say there is no rescue like Mastiff Rescue of Fl. This rescue does more than process foster applications and adoptions. Education is a must for fosters and adopting families. No stone is left unturned. We will go to the end of the world to rescue a pup in need. Here are a couple of before and after pics of two rescues I have been involved with of many. From dumped to strays to mastiffs turned in to be euthanized they have been rescued and are now living with loving families. One instance I went to do an evaluation of a very sick mastiff at the shelter. So bad we had to take him in a cart to my car as he did not have the strength to even walk. All it took was a little tail wag…with Pam on the phone we new that this baby wanted to live. And guess what he did.

So Greatful for this rescue and everything they do to truly save every mastiff and also mixes that they can. They will stop at nothing to save a dog in need.
When they bless our family with allowing us to adopt our Daniff, I was so impressed at how they don’t just let anyone take in one of these animals once they have been neglected abused or surrendered it is truly like adopting a child!
That in itself speaks volumes they are amazing at making sure the right family gets the right dog even if you have to wait!

I went to the pound to pick up Emma, an EM, to bring home for fostering. She had first been evaluated by a MRF volunteer the day before. That was 5 yrs ago. We adopted her after a short time. Mastiff Rescue of Florida was a great help from the day I went to the pound. All the paperwork was ready, which can be a real frustration if not. Her spay was paid for & her heart worm medication was sent to me monthly for +HW.
The head of our group, Pam, has been a great resource for understanding & caring for this breed. But she has also helped me with other breed rescue dogs I have. Out FB group is very supportive. Sharing insight & resource about our EM's & all dogs.
Many hands in this organization help pick up dogs, evaluate them, transport them, find fosters & permanent homes. If a dog needs behavior work, it is done. If there is an Oldie but Goodie (senior), they can stay a foster in their home & have their care taken care of by MRF.
Our Emma was over bred & thrown away with a horribly infected uterus. She has a great life now with fenced yard, a pool she jumps onto first landing daily, sleeps on the couch & loves her Daddy.

Became a foster with MRF around this past Spring. Shortly after applying, we had our home review. Our reviewers were sweet people. We had a great experience. About a week later, I got a call to go rescue an EM at a kill shelter. She had been evaluated by another volunteer. I needed info while at the shelter. I had no trouble having one of the leaders call & email everything I needed, while there. Emma needed to be spayed. Our evaluators even met us at the Vet to give us some paperwork. Even though Emma is a failed foster now & one of our first of 3 adoptions, I never have problems when needing advice or support. I’ve seen nothing but a desire to help these dogs. One foster we traveled a couple hours to meet another volunteer. Everybody offers to help & get involved to help each other & especially the dogs!! I belong to 3 rescues. I trust these great people & appreciate them.

MRF saved us and saved two dogs! Our OEM that we rescued while living in Oregon moved to Florida with us upon my retirement from Dept of Veterans Affairs. Ivan crossed the rainbow bridge in January 2019, a year after we moved. We had known of MRF and contacted them about looking for another
Rescue. Pam called a few weeks later about Archie, a Bullmastiff from ABARS. In a joint collaborative we fostered Archie and 6 months later when his owner was unable to sustain him we got Archie as a foster fail! He was frightened of everything, garbage cans, birds and squirrels and all noises. After a year Archie was able to travel with us and meet Louise, our sons Bassett who now lives with us. He has been the pivot for our pack and we recently were able to foster another OEM who Was heading for a future as a bait dog on FB marketplace. With
The work and cooperation of three MRF members we were able to bring in the sweetest 4 yo OEM, Luna, ever. Of the eight mastiffs we have rescued she is a doll. Calm and accepting. The multiple agencies that collaborate through Mastiff Rescue of Florida surpass any volunteer organization of which I have been a part.

This is Archie. A joint rescue from ABARS and Mastiff Rescue Florida “Hands and Paws.”
Our OEM died in January,2020. We had worked with OEM rescues in Tennessee, Oregon and now Florida. Ivan had been the center of our life since 2013 when we rescued him while in Oregon. After a week or so we contacted Pam at MRF who we had done home evals for since living in Florida. She had been contacted by ABARS about a Bullmastiff needing foster care immediately. Pam called and we arranged to pick up Archie.
From the beginning he had us! At first meet he licked our face. We had never had a dog do that!
We did the 3/3/3 of fostering, had him neutered and slowly introduced him to the world. He walked 4 x daily because he wouldn’t poop in our yard! Our subdivision fell in love with him. We took him to Grayson Beach pub for Sunday brunch and the staff there came to look forward to his return and gave him the same table on the patio! We took him to St Pete to meet his sister, Louise the Bassett who was in college with our son. Instant pals. Since COVID, Archie and Louise have had a fenced yard to run, dig and chase squirrels. Archies favorite place is our bed where he has slept since the first night!
After 150 days of fostering, Archie became our permanent dog! He had been in our hearts since the first meet.
May 30 he became our forever boy. But every month with Archie is a dream month. And here, “life is but a dream” is our motto!
The Mastiff Rescue Florida and their Hand to Paw program helps these dogs find homes when owners may need assistance in placing their dogs.

This organization works incredibly hard to provide for as many neglected, abused, or given up dogs as they possibly can. Agreed to be a foster family for a Mastiff 3 years ago and have only had the absolutely BEST experience working with these experienced, dedicated and caring volunteers. The whole organization is top-notch!

Nellie came to us after having been on the street for quite some time. MRF volunteers rescued her got her vet care, she was 3 y/o approximately and less than 60lbs. Erica took her in and fattened her up to 100lbs, she was spade and treated for heart worm. She had an attitude with most males, we interviewed a trainer that didn’t go well she didn’t like him and neither did we, we also tried another trainer which at least got us started. She is a sweet 162 lbs and on a diet, we walk multiple times a week. MRF provided her with a safe space, medical care and covered all her heart worm treatment even after we adopted her. MRF is an exceptional group who will cross oceans to be sure Mastiffs end up in the right furever home

The volunteers at MRF are the most dedicated group of people I have ever met. Their mantra, "The dogs come first, " is a code they live by on a daily basis. Whether it be rescuing a dog in need or, helping an owner keep their dog via the hand to mouth program. In my case the dog was in serious need and they worked hard to match the dog with the right household. Including a visit to my house to meet the family and determine whether we would be a good fit. Fortunately we were and our Mastiff Liberty has been with use for over 2 years and is part of our family. We cannot imagine our home without her. I have donated to MRF Florida several times and even in these high inflationary times we still scratch pennies to ensure that we can support this fine organization.

Hi: I'm a Mastiff and my name is Liberty. This is my story. I was born 5 years ago and adopted by a wonderful human in Kentucky. I was well cared for and much loved. Last year my human crossed the rainbow bridge. Someone called the paramedics and when they came to the door I did what Mastiffs naturally do. I protested by barking vigorously. The paramedics called animal control and they came to remove me from the house. They were neither kind or gentle about it and I sustained a few injuries as a result. They took me to the animal shelter. I was so scared. I had no idea what they were doing to me. I missed my human. A few days later some distant relatives who lived in Florida came and got me. They took me back to Florida. I was scared there too because it was all so strange for me. They were told by their landlord that I couldn't stay because I was too big. (Now I'm not a fat girl and pride myself on my trim figure). Anyway the nice family called Mastiff Rescue of Florida and they immediately assigned a foster to come and help me. I was scared for the first few days but my foster parents had another dog and a cat too. I quickly grew fond of the entire foster family. I have now been living with my foster family for 6 months and can tell you that if it were not for Mastiff Rescue of Florida I can only imagine how my life would have been different. Every day I thank the Big Dog upstairs for MRF and my foster family.

Mastiff rescue has been a source of knowledge and guidance when facing a challenge with my current mastiff as well as a valued resource for adoptable mastiffs that need forever homes. Their top priority is the animals yet they also care about the families that take in one of their animals long after the initial meet and greet. I have been associated with MRF since it’s inception and will continue to provide support as long as I am able.

MRF helped us through the process of adopting a mastiff that had been part of a breeder seizure. She had been kept outside tied to a tree. Pam coached us through understanding her fear of being indoors, walking through doorways, TV’s and every noise. She preached patience when she jumped through screen windows to get outside. Thank goodness for a knowledgeable source to help us through the years with our girl. She was a much loved family member we only recently lost to cancer and we miss her every day. The knowledge of MRF and the willingness to answer questions on food, vet recommendations, training and issues is invaluable.

Bar none, Mastiff Rescue of Florida is the BEST most organized, transparent rescue I have ever had the pleasure of working with. The love and dedication this rescue offers to these gentle giants is incredible. One of the best things about MRF is how they truly match the family with the right dog as "one size does not fit all", thus they set both the family and dog up for success. Also, MRF is very proactive in teaching and educating new and old owners about owning this special breed from best foods, socializing, training to name but a few. I will always continue to volunteer for them, foster for them and in short be their brand ambassador as I truly believe in this rescue!

I adopted my dog, Ben through Mastiff Rescue of Florida Inc. Ben was rescued by MRF after he was dumped in the Everglades of Florida. Ben was found emancipated, riddled with ticks, covered in lacerations and suffered from systematic infection. If it were not for the folks at Mastiff Rescue of Florida, Ben surely would have succumbed to his injuries he received when he was abandoned in the Everglades.

Today, I am happy to say, Ben lives a happy and healthy life, and we have MRF to thank.

MRF gives its heart and soul to the English mastiff breed. I was lucky enough to foster “Diesel” who became Hank. When Hank came to us he was not housebroken at 3 years old, had terrible separation anxiety, no house manners, and did not understand personal space. Hank just needed unconditional love, patience, and consistency. This was a dog MRF saved from shelter life. Without MRF finding a foster this dog would have been returned several times to the shelter. Hank became the perfect dog. He loved any and all people and dogs. Learned to be potty trained. Walked on a leash perfectly all within 3-4 months. It’s amazing what unconditional love can do. This breed is people pleasers. While I miss Hank dearly & cried for months after he left - I know he needed a family he can be with most days or go to work with his family. He hit the lotto with his new owners. Seen in the pictures! He gets free roam of the law office, lots of attention and walks and even a new mastiff sister for company since he hates to be alone. The last picture was poor Hank when I received him - he was severely underweight. MRF sent food, paid the vet bills to get Hank healthy again and provided a loving foster family (my husband & I) to get him trained and adoptable! The volunteers at MRF work super hard for these dogs to give them the life they deserve!

We've had 2 English Mastiffs from Mastiff Rescue of Florida and both dogs were just wonderful! Such gentle dogs but they do need lots of care. I cannot guess where the MRF people get time and energy!
It's a good thing that Pam Boswell is finally writing for a book on Mastiffs- she knows more about the breed than anybody does.
I waited from January to September for MRF to find a dog that fits us just right and Max sure does that! He's definitely worth waiting for-

Our story began in Tennessee working with Southern States Mastiff Rescue and then Mastiff Rescue of Oregon. For the 3 years we have been in Florida we have conducted transports, dog evals and home evals. We have never been a part of such a grand operation placing, moving and adopting these giants. Many places are not suitable and the dogs are frequently traumatized. Under Pam’s leadership and volunteers from the panhandle to Miami and parts in between, MRF assists in providing quality lives for the dogs and their fosters and owners. They work with other rescues in assisting placements and fostering. Our family has been blessed to have a “foster fail” after our last OEM died.

I spent my career in the Hotel/Restaurant industry, 60 hours was a short week, so having a dog was out of the question. On my first day of retirement I purchased a Standard Poodle. Then I realized that people actually surrendered or dumped these magnificent pooches, so I searched out rescue services in the Florida Panhandle. Over the next 19 years I have been rescuing Standards & Labradoodles from some horrific situations. Last June I saw this unbelievably beautiful Mastiff on MRF's website, I had to have this wonderful dog. I applied for adoption and was approved and my life changed forever. Mia changed everything about the way we live. I had dealt with a few rescue services in the Pensacola area, nothing outstanding, once I had the pooch that was the last I heard from said rescue. From the time I brought Mia home MRF stayed in touch with me providing unlimited counseling, up to date information on medicines, diet, things to do and things not to do. Sixteen months later I know that at any time I can reach out to Pamela or Patricia for help, advice or anything else that will help me be a better dog parent. For this dog lover there is only one rescue service that is this professional & truly cares that the pooch and his/her new owner have all the tools needed to provide a loving & secure home for each and every dog that they place. These ladies are true Angles for dogs in distress. Bless you both.

I have loved Mastiffs for most of my life. I call them gentle giant teddy bears. They are a wonderful breed, but the problem is their size. They have a big old heart, but a big old body that comes with it, which makes it not cheap to have one. So many people get them with good intentions, but then can’t afford to keep them. Their food, doctor bills and then if they get sick it is not cheap. I have one I rescued with her sister at the pound because no one wanted them. The last sister is in kidney failure and it is extremely expensive, but she is part of the family. I recently joined MRF and what a wonderful group, they are very caring and dedicated to the breed. I have only had the pleasure to meet a few in the group but they were wonderful. They try to spend the time making sure the dog matches and works for the person, so it is a forever home. This is a great thing for each dog so they don’t get bounced around or left out and abused. I have taken in rescues all my life and for a group to put so much effort in what is best for the dog well that is hard sometimes . They give a person the chance to see if it will work. They keep in touch by helping with problems and just anything that comes up, I have not seen this in some groups. I look forward to trying to help the group the best I can and I hope others will too.

Mastiff Rescue of Florida provides a wonderful and devoted service to the mastiff community. Seven years ago I adopted two puppies from a rescued neglected litter.
Sherlock and Watson have grown to health well behaved pets and throughout the entire time MRH has been available with wisdom and guidance. Mandatory training and guidelines that identify the best feeding and medication for the breed have resulted in happy healthy dogs. Stories of their hand to paw program that helps keep loved dogs in homes that are face temporary economic challenges is what sets this rescue to a higher standard.

We rescued Gypsy with intent to foster her until she found a furever family on September 16th, 2019. She was very skiddish and bashful, but she warmed up very quickly to my significant other, and took just a little extra time to warm up to me. She became very attached to us and we chose to adopt her. We love her so much much can't imagine her with any other family! We also did an emergency rescue with MRF last year with 2 beautiful gentle giants that needed about 5 baths each just to get the fleas under control and MRF placed them in their furever homes. I have worked with many rescues but this is the first one that actually puts the dogs first over money. Pam Boswell is the most compassionate person in rescue. She gives everything to make sure the dogs that come through her rescue go to the right home. She does not just place the dog with anyone it has to be a good match. I adopted my mastiff from her 5 years ago. I have been a volunteer ever since. It is not an easy job placing these big dogs but Pam has managed to find the right homes and the rescue has such a wonderful volunteer base willing to create ride trains across the State and out of it to rescue a mastiff in need. We were not getting another dog - it wasn't happening. Then we see Toby with his momma at a home show in Tampa and my wife wanted him immediately - Well he wasn't available - He had a forever home, but we were told be patient and the perfect dog would be there for us. The team at Mastiff Rescue knows their stuff. Not a few weeks later we get the call - 'we have a 10 year old mostly blind boy for you to meet". Then came the LOVE! Goober is what we called him and he lived up to his name in every heartfelt way - he was our "Goob!" This boy couldn't see anything but made himself at home within a day. Goober had his issues, but it was a perfect fit. He stayed with us until a week before his 13th birthday before it was time for him to cross the Rainbow Bridge. With the support of Mastiff Rescue of Florida we were able to keep him comfortable, dealt with his myriad of health issues and gave and received Gooby love every day! He was a special boy. We continue to work with Mastiff Rescue and help with transporting animals and evaluating potential homes and dogs. MRF makes sure that when a dog is placed it is the right fit - the welfare of the animal is of the utmost importance. We live in an area that is rife with rescues and organizations asking for time and donations - our hearts, time and what money we can spare goes to Mastiff Rescue of Florida - Great People, great mission, Great dogs!

When we started looking we were guided towards the tight dog for what we needed not what we thought we wanted. My husband and I were already animal lovers (4 dogs, 4 chickens, and a pig) but when we found out about MRF we couldn’t resist. So spring last year we became volunteers and fosters in the “Oldies but Goodies” program.
I can’t say enough good things about this organization, group, community, all the way up to the board members who are hands on and always willing to help us with whatever we may need.
Our first rescue, Ellie Mae, even though she was 7 years old with some existing medical conditions, was a perfect fit for our family and our home. Our local board member, Pam, ensured that we had absolutely everything we needed from the first day we met her until Ellie crossed the rainbow bridge. Beyond that, so many of the volunteers from all over the state reached out to us during that time to offer so much kindness.
Since then we recently have 2 new “Golden Girls” Nina and Nova (7 1/2 years old), who came to us through the kindness of volunteers that helped transport them over 250 miles across the state. These 2 girls are also a wonderful fit for our family and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
This organization and its volunteers are such good genuine people, and it’s very refreshing with so much negativity in the world. We only wish we had known about MRF sooner.

Sometimes through no fault of their own people find themselves in circumstances beyond their control. In some of these instances they cannot keep their beloved pets. MRF takes the dogs in and pays for their medical treatment and often is able to help the owner get their dog back once they are back on their feet. This is an amazing non profit and I'm proud to be a part of it.

I found out about MRF by Googling Mastiff rescues. We had just moved to FL from WY and were looking to add to our family. We had had a mastiff mix in WY and loved the personality. I filled out an application and our journey began. Our first mastiff(Louie) is a big hunk of lazy. We have had him almost 9 years and he is going on 12 years old. I got a call for help to see if I could do a dog evaluation. Sure, why not? From there it went to us eventually having 5 mastiffs and Peggy(a shephard/healer mix who was the queen of the pack.) We have fostered several, adopted a few, and have 2 - 12 year olds currently. I am so grateful that I googled and that MRF is the great organization it is.

MRF rescues and rehabilitates English Mastiffs from all over Florida. Some have had to be carried due to weakness, illness and/or starvation. Each and every mastiff is evaluated by experienced mastiff personnel, receives medical care, regardless of cost, and is fostered into a loving volunteers' home until they are able to be adopted by their forever family. An Oldies but Goodies program takes care of all medical needs of senior dogs needing assistance. A Hands to Paws program allows people facing temporary financial hardship to keep their beloved mastiff with food and medical aid. They may be big dogs, but this rescue has an even bigger heart.

Wow where to start ... they absolutely go above and beyond,. They are not just there to take the injured, abused and neglected mastiffs in but to be there for any questions, help and support for the life of the mastiff you foster and or adopt. I personally have made several phone calls to them with questions of health or concern and they have given such awesome advice many times saving unnecessary vet visits or money on vet recommendations.. one lady has about 22 of these extra large lovable dogs in her home that her and her husband care for because they are un-adoptable due to health medical being blind age , etc.. I definitely find this organization to be one of the best nonprofits I have ever seen and or been associated with

MRF is one of the best animal rescues I have ever come across in my MANY years of adopting dogs.. I have always wanted a mastiff and after much searching and alot of hesitation I decided to adopt from MRF, this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. This is definitely not just a sign on bottom line type of organization. They go above and beyond to ensure the health and safety of their dogs. Anyone that owns a large breed dog knows they are not your normal every day type of dog. Being a first time for me and alot of questions and concerns while adopting and after adopting the heartfelt support was constantly there and still is at anytime I call. I cannot commend there dedication enough. Not all humans and dogs are a match and they go to great lengths to place these animals appropriately to a good loving home. In the adopting process they provided all necessary medical attention my dog needed paying for the medication and the vet bills. Which immensely helps the dog and the adoptee to make a great transition into the new family.

Over the years we have adopted 5 dogs from Mastiff Rescue of Florida. In each case, they were honest about the dog and the dog's history as far as they knew it. In each case, their interest in the dog didn't end with the adoption. They were there to answer questions and provide help. Because of our high regard for MRF, my husband and I have also been volunteers for for many years. We have done home evaluations, dog evaluations, and dog transport. In every interaction with every person in the organization we have felt their commitment to the health and well being of the dogs.

We have transported dogs, evaluated dogs, done home visits, fostered, and adopted from Mastiff Rescue of Florida. We have worked with them for years and encountered only caring, knowledgeable people who want the best for the animals. Both of us are and have been involved with many animal organizations for more than 40 years, and we have never seen an organization more willing to support the animals or the people that agree to help them.

Mastiff Rescue of Florida continues to amaze the community by saving neglected, abused, and abandoned Mastiff dogs all over Florida. Its director, Pam Boswell, deserves special attention for her tireless and selfless work for this organization. The remarkable results of her endeavors are larger even than saving dogs: for by finding the right home her rescues, she actually saves many humans, finding unconditional love and friendship in these amazing dogs.

Mastiff Rescue of Florida has been the most professional, knowledgeable, and charitable dog rescue organizations I have ever encountered. It's director, Pam Boswell, has an incredible knowledge of Mastiff dogs: she knows what they need, she intuits what they have been through when she rescues them, and she understands exactly with whom to place each dog. She is one of the kindest, most intelligent women I have ever met, and I trust her judgement--about dogs and humans--completely. Beau, our 10-year-old "foster fail" mastiff has been a delight to have as part of our family, and we are forever grateful to Pam and MRF for allowing us to have this wonderful boy.

Our journey started in the beginning on 2015. My husband has be wanting and researching mastiffs for years. So We started to look for a breeder, but then we came across mastiff rescue of florida. I thought perfect, what do we need to do now? Fill out an application.we did and soon after we receive an email for a home visit. A vary nice lady Pam came out to our house and we sat and talked. We asked her so many questions about the breed, and she was able to answer all of them. So the next step waiting for the right one. My husband and myself watch, waited, and saw all the amazing things MRF can do. At one point we thought the right one was there but it was not the right time for our family. Then sweet Yara came in under weight and pregnant and MRF ran to her rescue. Mrs Katy helped Deliver our sweet fur baby Odin. We followed her story and all the updates MRF posted. We message that we were interested and the process began. They sent us questionnaires about our every day life on how we will care for a mastiff, do we under stand the responsibility of a mastiff. All vary good and relevant questions. MRF takes what they do as a rescue to an amazing level. I have become vary inspired as soon as my kids get older I want to get more involved. MRF has become part of our family we love going to all the gatherings MRF host. I can't wait to adopt another mastiff from MRF and welcome them to our family again!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that a group like MRF existed. Prior to working with MRF I had done rescue work with a couple of different groups to help save dogs and cats. I reached out to MRF when my husband, who grew up with Mastiffs, convinced me that we should welcome a gentle giant into our lives. I am a rescue person so I looked around and quickly found MRF. After an application and a house visit, we were cleared to be fosters. We quickly became foster failures. Before I met our first foster, I thought I wanted a young female puppy that we could raise. However, I was open to fostering any Mastiff until the prefect dog came along. Tank, a three year old heart worm positive male who had been chained up outside for the last 6 months, came into our home as our first foster. He was a gentle soul who was so grateful for having been rescued. I was adamant that we were only fostering him, but when I updated the coordinator about him I started crying and said that I loved him and wanted to keep him. Tank became a beloved member of our family. Since then, we have been able to help transport and foster several other dogs. What I love most about MRF is how people come together for these amazing dogs who through no fault of their own need to be re-homed. I daresay I love the people as much as the dogs! I am so inspired about how people go to extreme lengths to drive across the state to pick up a stray or rescue a dog from a horrible situation. The support of MRF board of directors is amazing. Directors have emailed and called me to thank me and check in. Never have I seen a rescue group work so smoothly. I think it's because everyone puts the dogs first.

MRF is amazing. They are extremely supportive and strive to ensure every Mastiff is placed in the right environment with the right person(s). We have small children and were a foster failure as our Moose was the perfect addition to our family. He sure loves toddler kisses and hugs. I highly recommend MRF if you are looking for unconditional gentle giant love.

Mastiff rescue of Florida has been a phenomenal organization to work with. I have fostered and adopted two mastiffs from this rescue and they have been 100% helpful both before, after, and throughout the process. When my Sasha had to have major surgery last year due to intestinal obstruction they were there with a wealth of support and advice to help us through the ordeal. She is now fully recovered and thriving thanks largely to the knowledgeable rescue staff. They are the best.

MRF has been remarkably free of political turmoil (until this incident) which is extremely rare among rescues. I worked in rescues for twelve years before I joined MRF and was discouraged because virtually all of the rescue organizations were disrupted by constant, bitter infighting.

MRF has been absolute delight for a volunteer because the strong, knowledgeable leadership team keeps the focus on the DOGS! For three years, we have been privileged to do home evaluations of potential adopters and meet dogs who need to enter MRF's care. I am always very happy when I can contribute financially--I know my modest donations are used wisely. I hope to increase my monetary input in the coming year.

Pam and the other members of the "fearless and peerless" MRF board have an uncanny knack for matching the dogs with their best adoptive families. They chose our Liza for us, and she is a delight--playful, affectionate, and expressive. Liza, who was born on Christmas Day (2010), is a wonderful gift to us.

I have absolute confidence that MRF will continue to bless needy Mastiffs as their extraordinarily effective advocate.

I have been a Madtiff Rescue of Florida volunteer for seven years.I would not trade this time for anything. The dogs welfare is truly the first priority. This rescue is more then a rescue but a huge family of caring volunteers. I always tell prospective adopters or volunteers, once you join our rescue you are part of the MRF family where we will be there to support needs and questions.Whether we are helping a owner keep their pet or placing a surrender in foster then forever home, the dog comes first.

We have been volunteering with the Mastiff Rescue of Florida since 2010 when we adopted our Mastiff. We chose the breed because they are big, sweet and goofy. We chose a Rescue because we would never buy from a breeder.
During our time as volunteers we have done home and dog evaluations, and fostered. We have probably fostered 25 Mastiffs. I held a position on the board as secretary and wrote the monthly newsletter. I stepped down from the board when I realized I didn’t have enough time to devote to the board but I did not step away as a volunteer.
This year, due to life, we have not been able to do as much for MRF as we would have liked, but are hoping to jump back in to volunteering in 2018.
These volunteers make all the difference in the lives of the animals. Without the sacrifices the volunteers make, these beautiful dogs would not make it out of the shelters or would be left to fend for themselves. I know any time I have a question I can ask the president and receive 5 different suggestions. It is a wonderful organization and I am proud to be part of it.
Thank you.

I started volunteering with this organization as a foster to Zoe, one of a litter of 7. I am a foster fail and Zoe is happily in her forever home. Since that time I have picked up dogs and completed home evaluations. I have found it to be a tremendous experience and have worked with some unbelievably generous people.

Our relationship with MRF has been nothing but amazing! I call it a relationship, because it is more than just adopting a dog. We had been wanting for a mastiff puppy for years, but I wanted to go through a rescue instead of breeder. I had been secretly lurking for months before I decided to put in an application. The whole experience was much more in depth than other rescues I had worked with. They truely care about where they are placing them. I had many questions along the way, and they were always answered. The puppy/dogs best interest always coming first. The support and love didn’t stop after we picked up our new family member. I know I can reach out at any point with a question or concern and receive wonderful support. They have a lengthy adoption contract, and all items are in the best interest of the puppy/dog. The training is a must with these big babies. I 100% stand behind MRF and what they are doing for this wonderful breed. Such an amazing group of people.

The Mastiff Rescue of Florida works tirelessly to save and rescue mastiffs from abuse, neglect and homelessness. The Board of Directors, volunteers and carefully screened fosters and adopters are dedicated to the breed and work hard to regain their health and provide training so the mastiffs live as long and happy lives as possible as good stewards of the breed. Many mastiffs have been saved and have lived their lives in loving homes due to the tireless efforts of this dedicated network.

I've fostered dogs for Mastiff Rescue for several years. It has been a very rewarding experience to welcome sick, emaciated, and emotionally damaged mastiffs into my home. I've had intense support & guidance from the rescue. These are dogs who would have been euthanized had not Mastiff Rescue stepped up to rehabilitate these dogs and support financially. It costs a lot to care for a giant & they spend their money responsibly. Wonderful organization.

My experience with MRF is outstanding. As a rescue should be, MRF is a group of selfless people that put the dogs well being first and also for everyone involved, safety. They are so helpful once you foster or adopt a dog. You are always part of the MRF family once involved. Their home evaluation process prior to fostering is impressive, and needed. The thorough process that is taken to make sure these sweet souls are placed in the appropriate home is exceptional. From my perspective they go above and beyond to make sure a mastiff is placed in the right home so the dog finds his or her forever home. I am on my 6th foster with MRF and this group is like family. Any questions or help I need someone is always there. The love and care I see from MRF is beyond phenomenal. They continue to support you and the dog(s) indefinitely. It takes a special group of people to take on and devote so much effort to a great cause. I am always honored to be a part of it.

I became involved with MRF after I lost my Mastiff-mix to cancer. I looked around at other Mastiff-breed rescues but settled on MRF. It wasn't long until I was paired with Monty, a neglected and malnourished Mastiff. It was love at first wag. The rescue process was seamless and the support I received from the rescue was outstanding. Having worked in rescues for the last ten years, I find MRF to be one of the more exceptional rescues because they do everything to help the dogs in need from all over the state and sometimes from out of state. In addition, MRF is a wealth of knowledge on the breed and is extremely supportive and responsive to their adopters. So much so, I became a volunteer for this rescue. As a result, I get to see how much they truly help so many Mastiffs (and non-Mastiffs) in need. I will continue to support MRF as long as they keep doing what they are doing...putting Mastiffs first and giving these gentle giants a new leash on life.

Would rate this organization less if possible. We fostered a mastiff mix for them and fell in love and decided to adopt. He weighed 86 pounds at the time we got him and his medical records read that he has a puncture wound in his back leg consistent with a gunshot wound. He has heartworms which the rescue is required by contract to continue to treat but also has had a growth on his from leg since we got him that we were told was nothing and not to worry about. 4 months later it is still there and grows larger all the time. He was doing well, but when i brought a dog in the house who was wondering the neighborhood he showed some signs of aggression. We immediately had the trainer come out to our house and work with him. We communicated this with one of the folks who runs the rescue as we were looking to adopt a puppy from them. We were approved for the puppy adoption and got our pick that we wanted. We brought the puppy home and our adopted mix did not like him at all. We reached out to the rescue for advice and guidance, instead we got ridicule and accusations and a demand to return the puppy. We were told that because we previously had another dog, who we had adopted from a shelter and was badly abused, that had to be put down for aggression even after investing thousands of dollars into training and the new adopted mix was showing signs of aggression with the new puppy that we were bad parents and that it was all our fault. They eventually agreed to work with us and said that they would allow us to keep the puppy prettt much on a trial basis as long as we met a very long list of very ridiculous demands including having to spay a female mastiff that has nothing to do with the rescue within 2 weeks. Our vet has a month long wait to schedule. Please look for somewhere else to adopt from, maybe look at southern states mastiff rescue
