As a life long horse owner and lover, I made the spontainious decision to rescue a feedlot horse without doing my research on what it could mean financially. My heart was broken seeing all these beautiful animals who were being sent to die. There was one horse that caught my eye and I figured he was so inexpensive that even a vet check and a little treatment couldn't be THAT expensive, right?! Boy was I wrong. After our initial vet check and positive strangles test I realized I was in over my head, that was when I wrote a tearful email to Patricia at Serenity. I told her how ashamed I was of myself for getting into this position and all but begged her to help my beautiful rescue boy. She said that if I was willing to keep him and give him the loving him he deserved that she could help us. It was the first time in days that I felt I could breathe again, she is truly and angel here on earth and I can not begin to express in words how greatful I was and am for her help. She came out to our property, met our horse and gave me lots of advice for helping our guy begin to recover. She never once treated me like the fool I was, she was never judgmental, didn't lecture me for being so irresponsible - she simply was there to help. This non profit is doing amazing, wonderful things for people and animals and they deserve all the support they can get!! I hope one day to return the gift I have been given! ❤️
