I have served with this ministry for approximately 13 years. Year after year my heart is overwhelmed at what this ministry accomplishes! Over approximately 1,000 food insufficient children are provided weekend, break, and summer food! Every year CCM also holds a Christmas party for the children and their families. This is a time where they can forget their worries and enjoy a warm family meal, games, pick some gifts, and leave with hygiene and pantry items for the family. Every year this group works alongside the community to hold a free community day that provides, family entertainment, hot dogs, cotton candy, snow cones, a petting zoo, inflatables, music, and access to various tents that are resources for hardships and difficulties. Each tent has a give away for the families. CCM blesses the community by also inviting volunteers to come out, pack, and learn more about food insecurities. CCM encourages children to come out and serve and learn about how a peer may be struggling. It is about feeding tummies, but also feeding souls, and thinking of others. I never leave a packing without making a new friend nor do I ever leave not being humbled and wanting to strive to ever care for our community. It’s an honor to serve here and witness a community coming together to bless those are in a season of struggle.

I have been with this ministry for 10 years. Thru this time, in every trial and every complication...I have witnessed this group come together no matter the odds, and do whatever it takes, to get food to the children of this community that need it. I have first hand met with some of the parents during summer distribution and heard their stories and felt their pain as well as their gratitude. One mother even sent a before and after picture of her refrigerator. It was a sobering picture to see how empty it was, it was even more sobering to see that she was in her work uniform when she picked up the food. The after photo of her freezer stuffed and fridge looking healthy summed up the importance of what we do. This isn’t a one man team...this is a living breathing ever evolving group of people from our local community coming together to make sure that the little ones don’t have empty bellies. Many volunteers that attend regularly have known hunger or fear a time or two. They relate and are empathetic which drives them a little harder to reach a little further. Community Combined Ministries is not only about feeding people, it’s about waking people up and teaching them to care for their neighbors and giving hope when things seem bleak. It is an honor to serve alongside these people who can and do sacrifice for the sake of others.

I have been with this non-profit since 2010. From the first moment I walked in the door I knew I was encountering something spectacular. I had no idea how much this ministry would open my eyes and my heart. Thru the years I have watched endless selfless acts of generosity and sacrifice. The majority of the service is anonymous, however, two times a year we get to meet some of the families. Each time we get to the meet the families, we are greeted with tears of gratitude and smiles of joy as we enfolded them into our arms and our hearts. This ministry awakens and encourages the community to come together and work together for the common purpose of feeding tiny tummies and feeding tiny souls. By meeting these basic needs willingly, intentionally, and sacrificially, people begin to realize that someone out there loves them, they are not alone, and that they matter tremendously. I have met the most giving, loving, merry band of hope- givers that one could ever dream up. CCM is an evolving family of folks that want to go above and beyond and leave no one behind. There is a massive amount of varying talents and gifts that make this ministry a well rounded well oiled machine with a heart beat driven by love and compassion. CCM also networks with other resources to help people find their way to help outside of what we offer-
I worked with this ministry when the teacher work stoppage occurred and I watched and worked with the leadership as it came together with the community to make sure the kids were covered for the entire time! It was and extremely powerful community time so many hands and hearts worked diligently to gather, sponsor, and provide needed food items and then to pack the massive amount of bags. It was a tireless amount of work- but it was done with joyful determined hearts. Any person that comes to a packing is bound to have their eyes and hearts opened....which encourages them to reach with their hands and feet to serve. To visit this ministry is to visit love and purpose.

I have been with this nonprofit since 2010. From the very first moment I walked into the door, I knew that I had walked into something rare and spectacular! The primary purpose of the ministry is to meet the after school and weekend food needs for children in Berkeley County and Jefferson County WV. Secondary is getting the community united and serving together to help our fellow man find hope and care for one another. I have first hand seen the self sacrificial love and dedication of more people than I can count thru this ministry. I have served at most functions and met some of families who benefit from this ministry. Each family leaves a mark on your heart. Their need is real and their gratitude opens our eyes and humbles us all. Fontaine from Les Miserable sings a song that states this "to love another person is to see the face of God." I see that here, with these people. The people who serve in this ministry truly understand the needs of the people whom they serve . They can look them in the eye and most can say "I have been where you are." Having that grounded connection with people also opens the door to those a little afraid of seeking help. Another spectacular account is the continued gathering of so many people from so many different churches and organizations meeting and unified in this common fundamental need. Again....it is incredibly humbling to serve and to witness and interact with some of the most genuine souls on this earth. I love this ministry with my whole heart and believe in its purpose and success. I love the people that I serve with and even tho I don't get to interact an enormous amount with the people we serve, I love each of them as well...whether or not I ever meet them face to face. They each are carried in our hearts . Come see what all the fuss is about! We would love to have you there and serve with you!
